Interesting. I was thinking in terms of stack height only and planning on a 140 fork. The tapered HT is $200 extra, which would have put it over 2k. Which would have put me back at the Middlechild with a straight head tube.Given the choice, I'd rather go for the tapered head tube. I had an issue with my straight 44. I believe heavy riding/braking forces tend to make an external cup rock back and forth slightly. I found this happening on the Optimus. But with a flush internal bearing, the forces push directly against the head tube, not 5mm or so away from it. Mo solid imo.
