Pet peeves on ride day....

nothing ever bothers me when I ride..
bs....
Blackstar is a great ride...

Why does someone need to let others hear their music out in nature? Wear ur earbuds if you must but I rather hear the silence ...

I was at Oaks last week, passed a girl at the top of 2nd B where the table is....music blaring. I continued on, got to the bench at the top of Peralta....and could still hear her music across the canyon. Thanks for forcing yourself into my outdoor time.

I've made quite a list of things that bother me on ride day for one reason or another but so everybody else has a turn, I'll just list my #1 issue....friends/other riders that show up to a ride AND THEN decide to fix a flat, adjust their brakes, fiddle with their air pressures, install new cleats in their shoes, etc...

Every group seems to have that guy... Don't be that guy.

Backpack check, water & tailwind Ck, tires-shock-fork Ck, helmet-gloves-eyewear Ck, light breakfast emergency food & phone packed, sunscreen-bugspray Ck. All geared up, out on the trail & sweaty when it happens!!! At first you're like Naaahh. Then it's Nooooooo please please no. Then "come on mannnnnn" then SOAB, you throw your bike down in disgust and trash the new Oury's. Then hike out into the bushes. Lets just say for me, if the trailer hasn't been spray washed I'm unhappy.

^^ TP, hand sanitizer and wet wipes live in my pack for those days when I can't take care of business before the ride.

I know what you mean as far as accidentally blinding your buds but is there really such a thing as too much light?
Yes. I see tons of riders out on the local trail system and everyone in the group seems to have 2000+ lumens on both handlebar AND helmet. That much light is more likely to white out and blind you because the air is full of dust when you're a few riders back. After a certain point, more light isn't always better.

That much light also makes riders very conspicuous and visible for many miles. This becomes a problem for the whole community when the trail system is technically closed to night-riding and said system is surrounded by expensive homes owned by HOHAs with nothing better to do than complain to the land manager. Then add huge groups of riders who are clueless about etiquette or being the least bit discreet, and seem to have little common sense in general, and eventually you're gonna have problems.

My light is around 700 lumens. It is more than adequate for the speed most people ride and level of tech on our local loops. It doesn't white me out in the dust and isn't as visible from far away. But what do I know? I fully expect some day to start seeing handlebar width light bars like you see on all the bro-dozers these days. Cuz more light is always better, right?

So today I was late for the ride, had to fix the bike when I got there, carried my helmet on my bars and cranked the tunes on my external speaker. Great ride!
But I rode alone.... saw @Tom the Bomb TTB's lil group start up the ST as I turned into the parking lot. I didnt confirm that I was coming, so no worries, maybe I can catch up?
Not a chance! They must have been haulin' some serious mail!

I came across this thread just now and I couldn’t resist registering just to respond. Prior to reading this thread I never realized how many old geezer riders I (we) upset when my crew and I roll past you.
