New Bike Day!

Well, I finished that part......and got a new bike (three weeks ago). I'm loving the move from the CX bike to a more gravel based bike - no racing, just cruzin. I don't know why the seat looks so tilted. Salsa Cutthroat with 28/38 - 10 x 42. Built with lots of bikecamping in the future and in a weird way, my carrot to get back to riding after in upcoming knee surgery. The move from 42mm tires to 2.2" Ikons is awesome!

Those things are max fun, and the FLoop is a riot on one. I'm running 2.o" Kenda Slant Six tires on my Sutra LTD.

Sorry about the upcoming surgery... Hopefully everything goes well and you're on the Salsa soon.

And I assume you took the reflectors off.[/QUOTE] Hightower. I hope scores of others are right, I only did a brief test ride in parking lot. Yes, reflectors come off before I take first ride today:thumbsup:. I was considering the 2020 Tallboy, and a couple other brands, but jumped at this when price dropped to $2799. I wouldn't want the 2020 Hightower, it is nearly 2 lbs heavier.

Think I have zeroed in on my Goldilocks......
Been poring over a lot of bikes. Between spec,Geo and price,h the theme is usually pick 2 and forget they other... But may have found a 3/3

Geo/sizing ... Looks good
Spec..... All good, might need a tire swap...
Price.... High end of budget... But still in the price range.

Stay tuned...

Interesting. So this is something you've not ridden? Bold.

On the other hand, I bought something I had ridden and ultimately decided it wasn't right for me... I think....

Good luck. We are all on pins and needles as to which color Hightower you are purchasing. Blue or sand?

Wait - can't be a Hightower, they come with Maxxis Minions. The tire most swapped TO, not from.

Unfortunately hightowers are way beyond my budget. Have to face student loans, save money for a house..... All that fun stuff. Since I typically put in only 15 miles per week, and we'll probably be expanding our family within the next year, my goal is a decent modern trail hardtail between$1500 and $2000... 130 or 140 mm fork...

I have a list of 4 or 5 that fit, and my ideal fluctuates every couple days... Probably buying in February. Once I have s minute I'll sit down here and make a list to get everyone's input...

It's a Happy New Bike Day for my middle child! She's a high school sophomore, and decided to join the Redlands MTB team. The team is splitting due to growing too large, and one of the splits ended up having no females. NICA needs you to have males and females on a team, so she jumped in. Wasn't even a request from me, she just heard about it from one of the other parents! Anyway, she has been riding my old Gunnar, which is a good early style 29er, but dated and a touch heavy. I decided if she would join, I wanted to get her as light and modern as I could afford. She'll hopefully stick with it, but worst case I can re-sell in a couple years (or you know, keep it for me). A Santa Cruz (yes, of course) Highball came up on Pinkbike, and it is a bike that originally belonged to another HS kid. He went on to be sponsored and has a new bike, so a local guy bought his old one. He didn't ride it, and put it up for sale. Long/short, baby has a new bike!

I mean really, who could say no to this kid...

Worst mistake I ever made in this sport was selling a carbon Highball. :cautious: :p I'll tell you about it on the way to Utah. :p
