New Bike Day!

Well, this bike definitely isn’t new, and it isn’t a mountain bike, but I figured I could post it here anyway. When I started seriously cycling in high school back in the 80’s, I really wanted a Celeste Bianchi Nuovo Racing. Unfortunately being a poor high school student, all I could afford was a Schwinn. A couple of my riding buddies have recently started to restore and ride vintage road bikes which gave me a good idea. I’d start searching for that bike that I couldn’t afford when I was 14. Wasn’t able to find the Nuovo Racing that I wanted, but I did come across this locally on CL. 1986 Bianchi Vittoria. Looks pretty much intact other than the tires. Looks like the original brake pads and the braking surfaces look new. I don’t think it was ridden much in 33 years. A lot of the vintage Bianchi’s that I had located previously were either beat up or had a mis-match of components. Full Campagnolo Victory groupset and Mavic rims. From the decal on the non-drive side chainstay, the bike was purchased locally at 2 Wheel Transit Authority. Going to start the tear down and cleaning process this week.

Sweet!!! 86, those were the days!!!

Picked up a new bike for my wife yesterday. Pretty much perfect for her and she's happy as a clam. Like they say..happy wife...:)

It's an REI Co-Op CTI 1.1 road/hybrid kinda thing. I'm surprised, it seems like a pretty nice bike given the low cost. Pedaled around as best I could on an XS frame to check it out. Smooth drivetrain, shifts well, feels solid and fairly light too.
The Mtn bike I bought her just never got ridden, so hope 2nd try is a charm!

Now my turn..;)

A preview of the next bike. This time I want all the parts in hand before I start building up the bike. It’s frustrating to leave a bike half build because i forgot grips or i didnt have the right sized parts in my bin. Already noticed i missed something, if you can spot it...

The build is finally done! Weighs in at 29lbs 12oz with pedals. Why weight weenie on a steel frame? It’s a placeholder til I acquire a Ripmo. Also why I looped the rear brake hose instead of cutting it. Kinda sad that the frame has no mounts for the dropper housing. Had to zip tie it to the downtube.

I have a sickness. Steel is real, ti is fly, and plastic is fantastic.
