@rossage, that's fantastic. The Riprock was a powerful gift this year in our house as well. Kaia (my daughter), before opening any other presents: "Is this my bike? This is the best Christmas ever!".

You uncles are really pulling it off this year...
I think your niece needs wider bars.

I agree. These kids are probably the only ones in their neighborhoods to have real mountain bikes. Lucky kidsYou uncles are really pulling it off this year...
I let dad have the joy of assembling. He botched it though and I had to make it safe.Another Uncle steps up to the plate.. But the assembler does not look thrilled!

Yeah, Christmas was well timed. She'd grown out of everything that would have needed to be replaced anyway (bike, helmet, board, boots, outerwear) so we were able to play it off as a big Christmas haul. I offloaded some of her old snow gear, and realized this new pair of boots is her 4th pair since she started, and they all have "room to grow" inserts that pull out to allow the boots to grow by a half size.Oh yeah! Snowboard too!
Awesome!

Whatchu talkin’ ‘bout Willis?
Sweet!!! It looks like you're tooling up for harder XC. And you're restocked on stem spacers!
I've been bike shopping for a spell. I love the way my Remedy fits and feels but with 27.5" wheels and older/low geo, it rode too low and I was getting frustrated with the constant pedal/crank strikes going up and down stuff. I've always preferred the feel of a 29er too, so I searched...
I prefer to buyer "newer/used" when I can find a good value and I certainly scored here. It's a 2018 Trek Fuel EX 8 29er that has only been owned/ridden for 3 months (I have the purchase receipt). I have only ridden it around our parking lot but I am digging the feel of the Eagle GX drive train. The Guide R brakes feel wonderfully smooth and with 4 pistons per caliper, they are powerful so I am going to give them a try. If the dreaded Sram brake howling/turkey gobble is evident, then I will switch them out for Shimano XT brakes that I have. It's heavier than my Remedy but it sure does roll light in the garage.
I've been spending the last few hours researching and making tweaks/adjustments. I ordered stealth style axles for the front and rear and a pair of air volume spacers for the fork.
I think I will take it to Cherry and go for a spin...
And of course, I need to name it.

The Easter Egg is officially retired.New bikes are great! Are you going to keep the Remedy as a +1, or set it free?

The Jabber will remain in service though. Im an incomplete man without a hardtail in the litter.
Congrats on the new silver bullet snake sled. Wanna test her out in Ojai next weekend?I've been bike shopping for a spell.
