Snow level in Santa Anas definitely low.

And Mount Wilson has a little...

I'd avoid Red Box today. When Ross and I were there a few weeks ago after the snowfall, it looked like Disneyland.

Dante is going up there right now with a few others to shuttle from Eaton Saddle. I think I may have talked them into it, saying “I’d go if I could, you bunch of P-lines!”

From my vantagepoint, there is a nice dusting across from the Cajon pass over the sisters and Baldy through Wilson, although Wilson already is looking pretty clear. I think it is kind of light at lower elevations. Don't anything on the closer range. Beautiful sunny Sunday morning!

Although we didn't go all the way up, we earned our descent... No amount of persuasion or peer pressure could get @Luis to go higher. :p
They gave me flak for not getting a hall pass to join them. I offered them some midnight madness as an alternative, and they said that would be miserable. To retaliate, I rode through the night after telling them to sack up and loop Mt. Wilson. No word yet on their experience, but it probably took them longer than the typical 1:20-1:30 it takes to shuttle it.

We saw snow on Lower Brown... I bet the Middle Merrill rocks had ice.

Turns out the road to Eaton Saddle is closed...? They decided to shuttle San Juan instead.

I've talked about Jerry before. He's a pretty interesting individual... If you ride in O'Neill, you've probably passed him. He has cameras all over the Arroyo, and has captured some incredible video of all the wildlife- coyotes, fox, deer, mountain lions, bobcats, etc...

I've used Meandering Trail as a cut through to get to the trails off of Oso Parkway quite a few times...

facts: more COVID cases in the last 4 weeks than all of 2020 combined. More dead than all of 2020 combined. Now dining is opening, I can get a hair cut, gyms are opening. Did something happen in the last 7 days that I am not aware of? So were we lied to and now are being told the truth? or did they tell the truth and we are now being lied to? I just lost a co-worker last week, I did not even know he was sick. I am not feeling all that competent in the leadership and the rules
Still hunkering down and solo riding trails

It does seem a little lop-sided, I agree. But the fact is, case numbers are steadily dropping across the state and there are more hospital beds open. It would seem that the closures in the beginning were extreme, comparatively, but we've learned much since then so the noose doesn't have to be so tight nowadays. I for one, am looking forward to taking the wife out for dinner and margaritas (outside). We all know how to minimize the risks by now. Most of us want this to be over so I feel that we will keep doing our part to keep it as safe as possible. The fact is, case numbers did not surge when things like outdoor dining and hair dressers were reopened last time. It was the holiday group celebrations that caused the surge and everyone I know who got infected during this last surge, was at a party in close quarters with others. Live and learn.

Deaths trail infections by a month or more. The people dying today got sick Christmas Eve. We’ve been going the right way on infections since about new year’s.

Now that the ICUs are releasing more people than they are taking in, some letup was going to happen.

If another bounce happens in a month, hopefully most of the most vulnerable will have gotten their shots. Once the over-65ers get vaccinated I expect what little will there is to keep the distancing rules in place will be completely gone.

According to Rush, the meek will inherit the earth.
Sermon on the mount. But other interesting things are happening. Kilauea has erupted again after a long (really short) pause when the caldera drained to a level below the bottom hole. Po'O also drained the same. A lake formed in the bottom of Kilauea, about 150 feet deep. On Dec 20th it boiled away and turned to a steam cloud 30 k feet high and a lava lake has replaced the water lake. The eruption is in its 36th day. Who says they don't make land anymore?
Happy HOT lava trails.
Lava trails are my favourite, as mistakes are not permitted on glass trails
