SCORPION WEED: Here's some pics. The leaves are highly variable in shape and the flowers here in So Cal are usually white but they can be a shade of purple or in between white and purple. It's in the nettles family of plants so you get stuck with tiny needles when contact is made. Beware!!!

We have that plant and nettles too, just not a whole lot of it. We were on a hike a few yrs ago and my sons GF got into nettles, I put some moss on the affected area and it took away the irritation immediately! So cool how nature can hurt but it can also heal:thumbsup:

I have a 2018 in silver. A 2" hitch went on within 48 hours of purchase. I'll be going to Method 502's and new Cooper tires when my originals wear out. When we move to Prescott in a few years, there's no Audi dealer so we'll be getting an Outback for my wife and selling her A3 before we go.

I have a full-size F150 and bought the Crosstrek for the same reasons you sold your 4Runner. It sits most of the time and just goes on the "big" trips when I'm loaded down with (4) guys and all their bike stuff.

I was worried that I’d miss the 4Runners 6 cylinder and was bummed the Crosstrek didn’t come in a manual, but this thing is so zippy, even on the Cyn roads! So far no regrets!
I’m curious about your MPG once you swap out your tires, keep us posted would ya?

For whatever reason, it is really on the increase here in Cali. I used to only see it in AZ but starting a few years ago, I started seeing it here a little bit and then a little more the following year and this year its everywhere.

My buddy Luke over at RIGd Supply is making a multi-fit Ultra Swing spare tire mount. Good sheet, have one on my 4Runner.

Front Runner has put two of them on their shop vehicles.

I really like these, they are on my short list, but just can't commit without a bigger engine.
Hoping they come out with an XT version in the future.

That looks pretty badarse, and I like those tires!:inlove:
Those appear to be Falken Wildpeak AT3W, which is what I have on my truck. If you, or anyone, decide to get an all terrain tire I can not recommend those highly enough, especially if you drive in the snow at all. They're comparatively inexpensive, but I'd use them regardless of cost. I was blown away by how they performed in both deep unplowed snow, and hard packed snow and ice. Unstoppable really. Great in rain as well. No real mud experience thus far. They will obviously be a little noisier and rougher riding than your all seasons, but it's not bad. My mileage dropped about 1 mpg, but that was from a tire that was a little more all terrain leaning than what comes on a passenger car, so you might experience a bit more of a drop.

Sadly, I don't know that we'll ever see a bigger engine from Subaru again. As of the introduction of the 2020 Outback there is no longer anything but 4cylinder engines across the range. Even the large Ascent is a turbo 4. An XT verison would be sweet though.

There's a Crosstrek message board out there and most people claim they've lost 2-3 mpg. http://www.subaruxvforum.com/forum/

I think Subaru’s plan for the Crosstrek is to keep it an economy car. We would have seen a turbo motor in it by now otherwise.

They dropped the turbo models in the Forester with the update a year ago. I was bummed because that was one of the vehicles I was hoping to get one day in the future.

I hear that the 2.4L turbo motor in the Ascent has plenty of giddy-up.

That'all I want in the Crosstrek! Just drop a 2.0T in, all is good.

Needs: Hatch/wagon, manual transmission, AWD, slight lift/safari potential, 2.0T with 0-60 of 7sec or better.
VW Alltrack is probably closest, but scared of the VW reliability curse. Fingers crossed that Toyota comes out with a hot hatch version of the Corolla.

Can't you get most of that in a late model hot rod Civic?

What about the new Toyota Rav4 Adventure?? It has a 2.5l motor...

If you decide to roll the dice on VW (as a family we've had mostly good long term experience with multiple cars, but the bad experience has been bad), and like aftermarket stuff, APR has come out with the APR Plus line of ECU tunes for most VAG cars, including the Alltrack. It bumps power and torque considerable, up to 234 and 273 respectively in the Alltrack. You lose the factory powertrain warranty, but APR provides a warranty through their dealer network that matches the terms of the dealer warranty, and I'd probably trust a good Euro shop as much if not more than the dealer for repairs anyway. I think that would be a slick sleeper ride.

I serve on the Board of Directors of AlzOut a brand new 501c3 started by a group of friends who have all been impacted by family members passing from complications related to Alzheimer's/Dementia. AlzOut raises funds to donate to Alzheimer's based research. We had our official launch party this past Sat. We gave USC Keck school of medicine $15,000 to go towards a piece of equipment which will greatly accelerate the rate in which they can process samples of a very promising study they are working on related to lipids and healthy cholesterol in the brain. We are also sponsoring USC Keck's 2019 Finch Research Symposium in a couple of months.

True. It is a clever mod of the Impreza. The only negative thing my son says about his Crosstrek is the lack of power but he says he is willing to put up with it to get good gas mileage.
My RAV4 is AWD and has way more power but eats gas especially in town.
He gets much better gas mileage.
Other than in slippery conditions the RAV4’s AWD is pretty useless. No ground clearance either. Clearance is even worse since I added a hitch.
The Crosstrek is off-road capable and should take @mountaingirl sara where she wants to go. Not exactly a truck but a good compromise.

This is awesome, Ryan! Thanks for putting the time and energy into it!

Glad to read this! I’m still scrutinizing the mileage, especially on San Fransisquito Cyn!
