Since we’re on a derail and the subject is dark. I’ve been wanting to ask if any of you guys knew Corey Mitchell? A good friend and local mtb-er, his kids race for Squeaky Wheel Bike Shop. His service is this Sat in Leona Valley and the RSVP is via Facebook. Sorry to throw in a downer here....carry on!
I knew of him through Squeeky Wheel's FB page. What a tragic loss.

Didn't know him personally but I knew of him through the SCV Facebook page. Knew of his accident and amazing recovery and was looking forward to hopefully riding with him someday :(
Sorry for your loss

Yeah, but come on... they were heretics.
Yea! And imagine how much more crowded the trails would be today if all those barbarians survived and bred!

Seriously though, and this is mere speculation because I wasn’t there, but I imagine the world was a much more brutal place back in the day than it is now. It’s a good thing we put a cap on the epicness of things to ensure everybody can participate and feel good about themselves.

Tweak the numbers any way you want. It was 30 a year.....over 400 years.
But I think it was meant in jest. Watch the video.

This is what I see when I attempt to play the video:

I kinda feel I need to provide feedback, but honestly have no desire. My life has gone through some massive changes in the past few months, and I can't begin to explain how happy I am. So making a post that is critical, even if not intended to sound negative, just isn't where I am right now as a person. So I will be brief, and please, remember, I am insanely happy right now, so there is NO anger whatsoever right now.

Short version, many know I posted up info about some rides I was helping with in a support role. I was basically a rolling mechanic. On one ride, I stopped three times and fixed a derailleur, loose chainring bolts, and assisted in a flat repair. They were organized by a pair of my best friends, people who have been there for me as a person, not just as a cyclist. Without them, I would not be who I am today. I do not see any way it is possible I could have earned my racing license without them, no way. They are not my only best friends, I have learned I have A LOT of them I didn't realize I had, and I am grateful for every one too.

But my best friends were attacked for their efforts. I made a choice in my depression to walk away as opposed to fight, I made the right decision.

If you see me out in the wild, no reason to hesitate to say hello. I have no ill will for anyone. I love riding my bike, it is one of my happy places. Riding fast, riding slow, riding alone, or riding with others, I just want to ride and be happy.

I am trying to reduce my internet footprint, at least anything that isn't helpful or fun. If you run into me, I might not shut up about stories. But I like sharing my life in real life right now, not over the interwebs.

Well all I can say right now if you happen to check back in, is we miss you and thoroughly enjoy the time you spend here. I am so thrilled that life is heading in the right direction for you. Any Social Media place can get out of whack from time to time to include here. But one thing I believe we try very hard to do is get back on track, where others just tend to spin out of control.

We rode Exploration Trail the other day and I have to be honest, all I could think about on the trail was the video of you railing it and wishing you were there with us.
Wishing you where "here" with us as well. See you on the trail... smiley!

WOW! Do not know how I missed this post originally. Must be riding too much:). Great ideas and some really great people here. I do not think I can add anything that has not already been said. It is very nice that so many of us know each other. I would like to see more rides posted in trail heads. I am not always in the mood for techy tricky stuff and do enjoy the tamer rides at times.
It looks like there are a ton of ideas here. Pick the ones that you thinks will work for you @Mikie and and give it a whirl! Nothing tried , nothing gained. We won't leave you and you can be assured you will here from us:whistling:.
TTB
Ohhhh and I totally dig the ride reports!
