I Rode My Bike Today...

I rode my road bike today. Went for the planned ride, but the legs rebelled before I was done so I only got 51 miles and 6,200 feet of gain. That 34/28 granny gear hurts...I forgot about that. Still had a blast though.

And it appears my Garmin was smoking crack while I was stopped at Camp Williams on the way back. I did not, I swear, fall off a 600 foot cliff. o_O

Great weather today! Rode Bell view trail and tossed in a mini Caspers drop and climb. Not many people out, near complete silence when stopped at the far end of Bell View. Casper is quiet and nice but not the best ride. Kind of a way to just mix it up.

just over 18 miles and 2100 ft. This ride kicked my butt! I think it's the up-down-up-down that goes on and on. Great views and a lot of fun!

And Herz, your arm guards appreciate you keeping them safe and nestled in their nice pack pocket.

Looks like at Mile 31 you took a huge leap of faith!

Three hours open today, so took it! Ended up riding the hills south of town. Basically the last 1/3 of last weeks ride. 20 miles, climbed Heart Attack which is always a tough climb for me. Rest of the ride was just a cruise. Still trying to dial in my drop-bar 29er. Maybe a slightly shorter stem. Maybe just ditch it and stick w/ a flat-bar bike. Good times out there today!

We ended up riding a lap with Kirk ( the guys riding UP Karls on a Sunday...) and all is good! ha ha.

When I saw that elevation profile, I thought that would be better with the 34/34... I'll have to join you on one of these.

Given the types of rides I like to do, I'm seriously considering going to a Tiagra rear derailleur on the Synapse so I can easily mount a 12-30 or 32 cassette and call it good. The weight difference is negligible between Tiagra and 105.

And I should probably ride more than once every two weeks if I want to actually make it to Crystal Lake on the Synapse. :whistling:

Well done. If 34/28 hurt then I would just about die with a 40/23 granny on the Bianchi or the Road/Trance with 48/32. If that didn't kill me the 600 foot drop would :speechless:.

I'm surprised the 105 won't handle a 30 or 32. I installed a 11-32 cassette on my wifes bike with an Ultegra rear mech and it worked perfectly with a small adjustment of the B-screw.

Mine is a 2012. I think the newer 105s can handle it without workarounds like extenders and B-screw shenanigans. I'm definitely looking into it.
