I Rode My Bike Today...

I had a lot of personal business to take care of in OC today, so when in Rome: I loaded my bike in my car. After numerous errands, lunch w my daughter, I hit Oaks.

It was still 90 degrees at 3:00 when I started from Irvine Park. My hamburger and beer I had for lunch felt like a brick in my belly as I climbed CoachWhip. :gag: I headed up Barham to Robert's Nest (or whatever it's called). Descended Yucca (love to fly down that trail), but just as I was about to, I turned to see who was climbing the B's. Noticed one dude but couldn't make out who it was. All I know is that I didn't want this guy catching me on Yucca!

As I start my climb up Bumble Bee/Mountain Goat, I hear this, "You better start pedaling!!" I turn around and it's J! "Aaah crap!! No fair! My bike weighs 32 lbs and yours only weighs 15!!" We chatted a bit bc I already saw him on Sunday at the Non-Dot Volunteer BBQ. This is what I won and they made me :ninja: faster!!

Yeah, I rode my bike today. Chased Rox down....wasn't too hard, she was on this thing called a climb...I know, what a strange new concept for her to comprehend. And my bike weighs 23 lbs...and only has one gear, remember. I also think I have about 50 lbs on you..

You must have got the fast gloves, because mine made me much much slower today....that's my story, and I am sticking to it.

I ended up riding with one of the Non Dot'ers today...Kearly joined me for my loop around Weir Cyn.

32 miles/4700'

Two reasons I rode today, 1. couldn't let my union negotiated holiday go to waste  , and 2. while on my ride yesterday I found a bunch of empty beer bottles all over, didn't have a way to get them so I came back today with a bag and packed them out. If I can do it so can the d bags who left them, that kind of crap just makes me mad
Mega Kudos psm for cleaning up after the DBags!

I already posted in this thread today but since I rode my bike twice I'm posting again. Rode to work and back and I'm glad I did or I'd still be sitting in traffic like these poor people due to some flash flooding farther north near Mikie land. Instead I'm sitting home drinking ice cold shocktop and talking about it on imtbtrails. Don't worry it wasn't all blacktop.

So I take a couple top secret routes to avoid any and all traffic and who passes me going up the cheater route but the darn UPS truck that has my Kona parts on board. No luck catching the big brown truck.

Somehow even though the roads were never less than about 8 feet wide I still managed to bleed a little. Still don't know how that happened.

That's all I got...

Great looking pup you have there!

Got off work at 6pm, do I go home and watch the Dodger game? Nah, going riding... :sneaky:
Rode up Stough Canyon by the nature center in Burbank.
Met Cisco at the La Tuna canyon single track and rode down that together.
Ride up La Tuna Canyon road to the parking lot by the 210. Said bye to Cisco because his ride was over. :)
Ride up Hostetter fire road up to the tower. No Verdugist sighting... :cautious:
Skip the fire road down and take the single track shortcuts down, way more fun!
Ride down Stough back to the car.
Dodgers lose :mad::cry::cry::cry::cry:

12.9 miles & 3,415ft

It's your fault then... Friggin pathetic team effort. And that asleep at the wheel crap really pissed me off. they looked completely little league.

A quick 20 miles... But one of the construction areas is open now. For those who did the Rwanda ride the last few years, you remember the sidewalk detour along Antonio Parkway on the Tijeras Creek Trail. It's been washed out since 2010 (?).

No more detour... I still think it's funny that the trail goes from single/double track to this superhighway at the bridge.

And I think the peak may have seen some rain today...
