I Rode My Bike Today...

Wasn't sure what thread to stick this pic under, I Rode My Bike Today or Life Behind Bars, but since I said I was going to get my todies (toes) done, riding took priority. And you know what? Riding makes me feel sexier than if I got my toes did ...

That's San Jacinto in the background.

I coasted on my bike today. But I had to know!
I had Cathy shuttle (yes, I said shuttle) me to the top of McGill so I could get one more ride in before surgery later today.
I had "shop tuned" my new 36 Float and I wanted to test it out, instead of staring at it from afar as I healed up over the next 2 weeks.

Proper equip can result in raised confidence thus providing better results.

One cold run (usually I ride up, and THEN ride down) and I greatly improved my time, and I'm not even in shape. Went from 63rd to 49th and I didn't even feel like it was my best run. If you have a Fox 32 and you want to improve your downhill prowess, an upgrade to a Zoch, Pike, or Fox 36 can definitely assist!

Note: It's funny though, my 63rd place time, used to be 23rd place last year...

Now that right there is a real mountain biker, carving the trail in the morning before getting his foot carved on in the afternoon. Good luck with the surgery. You probably beat Cathy back to the parking lot.

Oh and my 145th place time is about as fast as I'm willing to go on my current bike. I think it was my first run down the trail chasing you.

Thanks fellers! Just got home. Too comfortably numb to know any better. But the Doc says it all went fabulous!
So now I'm relying on all you character's to ride and post a LOT! So I can live vicariously through all of you until I'm back on my feet!

That's an order!

I rode SS today before the season ends (Oct. 25th I think). The new features on Miracle Mile is FANTASTIC!!

I was having too much fun to stop and take pics. Go have some fun folks before you have to wait until next season.

Healing vibes to you my friend, Mikie!! We'll need to ride this together next year bud!!

Damn! Now I need a new fork!

Well... Mikie said, "Go ride!". So... I got up early and did a quick out and back on the Bell Canyon Trail, also known as Cougar's Ridge. I was worried about the lack of a 38 tooth up front now that the el Mariachi is a 1x10. I used to use the 38 to pedal the downhill sections of all the little rolling hills on the ridge. But... It worked out ok. I'm sold on it.

Now, it's off to an entire day of volunteering for the baseball team. Ugh.

Steve, your screenshot of Strava how do you get it so clean? I like how it comes out...

I did that one on the Mac using the Preview application. Preview lets me select the area of the screen to capture... If I use the iPhone, I can capture the entire browser window, but then I trim in in the photo editor. The image quality is about the same either way. If you're using Windows, I'm sure there's a screen shot application that's similar. In my Linux days, I use to use The Gimp, which is a pretty advanced image editor, and completely free. It has a screenshot function.

It's supposed to be blazing hot today but that wasn't going to stop VT and family from tearing up the bike paths of Valencia. It has become a weekly ritual to go on a family hike or bike ride on the weekends and we rather enjoy it. Besides Mikie told us all to ride and post a lot so here goes...

Taking a moving selfie and getting everybody in the picture is harder than it sounds...

After several near death experinces with me trying to ride one handed and hold Rusty's leash in the other hand we invested in this "walky dog" leash contraption that has a quick release attachment to the bike and is spring loaded to absorb the pulls and works great...

This was as close to a life behind bars pic as I could get while still moving and not falling off the back of the bike …
