I Rode My Bike Today...

I rode today....Damn the days are getting too short.

Got a late start...wife was getting some dental work done so I waited til she was done. Took lights with the expectation of doing some extra credit outside the park after sunset. However, realized it was a bit later than I thought so I just headed home.

Discovered that the Ardent Race is not a great back tire on the SS.

Typical Oaks/Weir Cyn/IRP ride. Warm to start with, and cooled down quite nicely.

Went up to Mt Pinos today and saw this new (to me) obstacle on the last section of the McGill climb. The approach on the uphill side looked good but the downward transition was pretty sketchy. Stopped and shored it up a little before continuing the climb.

I seem to remember a certain Mikie W racked his nuts pretty good on this obstacle when we last rode it...

I DIDN'T ride my bike today....but my son did, who is an extension of myself and is too young to post here, so I thought I'd give him props  ! He is a 7th grader and this is his first week riding his bike to school. 1.8 miles there and the same back with a little climb to add in there as well. Many of use grew up doing this and it doesn't seem much of a big deal, but nowadays it is more of a rarity amongst the youth and I'm proud he's down to do this. The rig of choice is an old Mongoose BMX bike he and I refurbished....

Rode my bike tonight, with at least 100 other people on the Tapia chili night ride. Rode up Charlie canyon to the towers with fellow imtbtrails brotha Pat(psm) and upon arrival there was quite the setup. Couple ez-ups and several tables setup with some pots of chili(grub deluxe) and all the fixins. Several ice chests with waters, sodas and another with Carona's & Ipa's. This event was perfectly arranged and orchestrated and unfortunately I do not know who to give the credit to but they did a damn fine job. Decided to play it sort of safe and took mostly the fire road back down with some of the single track offshoots. Now I need to buy more lights with more firepower cause that was fun.

Who cheated and rode the E-Bike?????

Headed out for my usual Thursday night Blackstar Social Cruise....however decided to get in some extra credit.

Left home early, rode over to the Oaks, did the Old Chutes Loop, and added in a short climb on Horseshoe Loop before going out Santiago Cyn Rd to Blackstar. Up Blackstar to Beeks'. Back down via Booby Trap. Caught up with my wife and H2OChick just above the bottom of the canyon, checking out a nice sized rattler. Rode back to the Tree Farm with them, and headed off to dinner.

Good crowd and a nice evening at the tapia chili ride . Enjoyed pedaling up with Tom and grabbing a brew and a bowl of chili at the towers. It's an event put on by Dean, I don't know a last name, just a guy who likes to give and rides there a lot. It's the fifth year he's done this and the first time I showed up. On the ride down my buddy Brian and I chose to ride through g out which is always a fun trail and definitely interesting using a light. The whole night was a ton of fun and worth showing up to next year.

That fallen tree has been there for months now. I was there a few weeks ago and I don't think the middle of the tree was broken like that. Must have been one heck of a Karate chop. :D

IRMBT for the first time in two weeks... how can you lose so much so fast? I set my expectations low and barely met them. Granny and maxed HR all the way up Cholla, record slow time I think. Second time around on Coyote hump a group of gals spectating and I almost went over the side. Did finish "strong" with the Dripping Cave loop :gag:
Any day on the bike is a good day, but I gotta get back to a regular schedule:unsure: Stats too embarrassing to post...

Voodoo Tom and I rode McGill today. For a Saturday with lots of cars in the lower lot it was pretty quiet. Crazy Bear was up shuttling some guys. I think we got a mild 13 miles in. As always, I feel I am always trying to regain what I had from time on the bike, then none on the bike.

As always... VT was an awesome ride buddy!

Yeah? Well I kicked that Logs azz today!

As I mentioned on another thread, road riding today. From the house to Los Coyotes was nothing but fighting traffic, crack heads, debris and glass all over. Almost got ran over by a van:mad:. I'm thinking this sucks! Stopped by Forest Lawn to respect Mom and Dad :notworthy:. Things picked up once in the river bed. Smooth sailing down to and across from Seal to Huntington Beach. Best part of the day was playing leap frog with a hottie for around 15 miles :). Headed up SART and for the fist time going with the wind. Hauling arse! Up to Lincoln where it was back to dodging traffic etc . No Strava but I do have a Cateye - 53 miles, 4:02 riding .
