Nox Composites is the brand, I have the Skyline model. It's an XC hoop... and me being 205 lbs., I'm a bit harsh on them. Still perfectly true, that may say more about the build quality though or maybe it's a combination of the two. I had them built by a friends company in Irwindale called WheelBuilder, they do really good work and are a good group of people, another quality company with good service.

Rode it!
I rode Lower Rock Creek today.
Thought I was going to be the Lone Ranger but "just" as I rode up on the trailhead, a group of 4 Bike Pack racers were just getting ready to plunge upon LRC.

So I took the hole shot not wanting to sit behind a bunch of guy's pacing themselves for a 250/500 Mile race. When I completed the first fast flowy section, one of them was on my azz. Say what!?!

I asked if he (Tony) wanted to go ahead, and he said, "No! I'll hang with your pace!"

On the last section (the tech section), I encouraged him to go first so I could capture some video with someone in it on the trail. We nailed most of it and he got a sweet lead on the others by us working together. We even caught the guy ahead of him and passed him too!

Pics, video and story later...

Been a week or two since I've been able to get out for a Friday lunch ride, but I managed to swing it today. Nothing crazy, Work to Cholla to Rock-It to Work in an hour. Didn't push myself and tried to enjoy the ride for the ride's sake.

I can absolutely see the water effect on Aliso. It wasn't bad, but the increased amount of ruts was noticeable.

Today was the pre-ride for the Santiago Oaks Nondotadventures race (next Saturday). While I do frequent Oaks, I haven't done this exact course, and haven't climbed up coachwhip in a long time, so figured I'd go pre-ride and support the group.

There were probably 40-50 people there, so we quickly split off into different groups. Since I was familiar, I ended up sweeping the beginners group (as a clever way of disguising my slow climbing!). After we finished the first lap, John Kearley asked who was up for another. All of the beginners bailed, but I stuck around along with some of the sport+ that were sitting there chatting. Needless to say I got dropped on that second loop (I told John to drop me though - you know when you are out of your league :) ). One of my main complaints about Oaks is it is just really short (I shoot for 15mi as a minimum to offset any drive time), but putting a 2nd lap worked out well.

While I still prefer going down the Chutes ridgeline, descending the trail (the climbing route) has some fun to it. Lots of switchbacks that you can get loose through and try to carry speed through. It should be fun when there is no worry about uphill traffic next weekend.

Had to pass on Mike's Yeager ride, just not that confident with my conditioning to get out that far with the heat.
So hooked up with coolbreeze and did a short one in Aliso to beat the heat. Hit the techy trails thinking the traffic would not be bad and it worked mostly, almost no bike traffic, just a group of hikers smack in the middle of the Carwreck rock garden, ugh. Started with 5 Oaks, up Cholla, down Stairsteps and HAB back up, down Carwreck and back to the cars. Haven't been on Stairsteps in awhile, more droppy than I remember. Hiking back up it, took a couple pics of the waterfall section (excuse the poor cellphone pics taken into the sun). All good fun and finished by 10:30

^ what he said. Great ride at Bonelli witt our group of 10 except Bonelli has something against me keeping air in my back tire. First a tubeless flat 2 weeks ago, and today a tubeless flat then a tubed flat. Had to keep adding air now and then to keep riding ( no more tubes). Very social paced as expected. Omar also had a group of riders out there today running the Turn and Burn course. Good times great dirt and a cool little get together after.

I second the chunk sweetness' in those pics knuckles!
...
Daham! I rode my bike today...again!
This was a Tom's Place Roundabout. Headed out in attempt to find and ride the Owens Gorge Trail, the directions were so piss poor on MTBProject that I got lost several times, so I made up my own route and turned it from a 10 mile loop into a 36.5 mile loop to include another trip down Lower Rock Creek Trail as the ride finale. But this time I chose to climb back up the pavement. Placing that at the end 'bout did me in, and I so badly wanted to throw a thumb out there and hitch a ride. But I didn't, and ended a 5 hour tour with around 3600 feet of climbing. One more day and it's back to reality.

Did the Rim Nordic Enduro which was a blast. Crashed in the 4th stage, few scratches on my leg. Didn't lose much time, no harm no foul. Didn't finish all that great today but got a 3rd overall for the series.
Then a group of us went and shuttled Exploration Trail. What a great trail, couple section got beat up by the rain but mostly rideable. This was my first time on this trail and definitely won't be my last.
Tomorrow back up there for there last XC race of the season.

I rode my board today. 6'2" Merrick Fishcuit. Mushy 2' waves at Trail 5, warm water, warm air, no wind, mid tide, light crowd. I sucked, and loved every minute of it. GREAT exercise. Oh, and beautiful blonde next to me didn't make the scenery any worse!

Since I am the OP on this thread, I get to report rides on equipment other than a bike. Pttthhhhhhpt! :sneaky:

We rode our road bikes today. 21 miles and 1800'. Then I had a beer and decided to play bike shop. After that we went to the Wood Ranch Country Club to reserve our date for our wedding. Then we went to Chili's to celebrate. After that we came home and I played bike shop for another hour. I installed Shimano's XT M8000 11spd cassette, derailleur, shifters and brakes with TRP rotors. Anxious to try it out in the morning.

I rode my Bike today, it was fun. Got PR on Luge, but I've figured out that Strava is not too accurate. It said I had a 14 minute ride up the last little climb..LOL. It was maybe 3-4 minutes. It obviously didn't pause when I stopped. Noticed Kioti at the Luge about 6pm tonight. Some awesome tail work being done the last few days! Thanks Kioti!

And rode the new rig ( to me) I bought today....335is....:):)
It was FUN too!

I rode my bike Thurs. after the rains. Hooked up with old friend Garren who I had not seen for almost 15 years. Good times on Itchy scratchy and Webb.
He now lives in the area so I have another partner in crime. Come 1st of Oct. my water ski season is over. The Bomb squad cometh to 40 miles of SART. Get ready!

rossage, ^^^
Is this the exposed singletrack off the back of Mt. Wilson that a a million and 6 fallen trees across the trail? ... I did the OTB and had the damaged rear derailleur that we did some fixin on it at the campground?

No Mikey we rode the north side of Hywy 2. This is on the south side. Another trail we gotta do though.

Dear TtB - By not putting in an avatar, you are depriving us of an opportunity to be inspired by your visage. We have to scroll up to the masthead/banner just to see you. Mikie needs to install a button next to the Like button that says "Tom the Bomb" that will take us straight to a photo!

(Note: This is light-hearted humor and not biting sarcasm. Tom truly is inspiring as a rider, and his choice of riding fashions uniquely his!)

Went to Snow Summit for the first time in a year. Some good changes some bad changes.

I love the new racks to put the bike in on the lift. I'm so glad those hooks are gone. I use to put electrical tape on my front wheel just so it wouldn't get all scratched up. Also, I'm so glad they finally put up a skills park.

For the most part the runs stayed the same except for the ladder drop on West Ridge where they took the back side out so it no longer can be rolled. I have no idea why they would do that other than they are trying to injure people. I, personally usually clear the back ramp but on my first run I was taking it easy and was gonna back side it until my buddy warned me that it was gone. He also informed me that that is the section that one of the guys this year died on. I can totally see why, if you don't know any better you're just gonna nose dive right off of it.
Then Fall Line is completely gone. That whole area is being logged and completely thrashed. Then Pirates has been reworked and rerouted. Kind of a bummer because I was trying to show my buddy some of the more natural terrain trails that were up there.
