Ok maybe I was smiling on the downhills :p
Great ride today with David, Ross and Scott

The smart people start at the bottom of Manzanita then finish with a Manzanita descent.

That's how we roll.
Up the road from Southfork to Vincent gap. The road was graded but steep. Climbed, again, up to Log Jammer and the DH was on. Crossed the road at the bottom and got on Leprechaun-both killer trails with their own personality and end resulting stoke. climbed up to Jackson lake, up and over Boy Scout and finished with a full, balls to the wall descent of Manzanita.
Mexican food at Carmenita's in LittleRock was great and highly recommended. We ate cactus!

Ha! This was your route bro! I remember you took a lot of heat for all that climbing but once the DH started the only thing I heard was hoot and hollers!
Fantastic day out there. You were missed.
LoL! Dude I remember that day! Both you and Hans were giving me so much Sh!t but turned out to be a killer day! Miss you you dudes and glad you had a great ride man.

Test run for the Franken-Chain with 32 x 22... One half link and two quick links to fit the 2.35 Forekaster in the rear. I ran this setup without issue when I first got the Highball, but when I moved to harder gearing, I had room to fit a normal 2.2 tire with a normal chain setup.

This should work for VQ and then the Highball will probably get a geared makeover for Rwanda. Gotta keep up with @UPSed.

Bell Trail to the end, down Starr Rise, to the Starr Ranch sign, up Oso Trail, help two lost lady hikers, down Cougars Pass, and back on the Bell Trail... I missed my oval ring when I was climbing the loose steep lower section of Oso, but the Highball is a better climber overall.

Bike is running extra quiet and smooth, thanks to the new bottom bracket. @mtnbikej

24 miles and 2800 feet. I only know this, because my watch recorded the ride. My possessed Garmin decided to turn itself off at mile 15ish.

Steve, ya gotta do something about that bottle!

Today I was indecisive. I knew I was going to ride....I just didn't have any idea of when and where. Well I finally settled on a spin around El Moro.

Got a later start......3:00 at Ridge Park. Started off down Lizard to Laurel over to Serrano and down Camarillo. Across Stagecoach and up Willow. Bommer over to Old Emerald and up Emerald Canyon....Bommer to Fenceline/Missing Link, down/up Ticketron, down No Dogs, down Mach One, up I Think I Can, up El Moro Ridge, down Fenceline/Missing Link and out.

Nice breeze blowing most of the ride. Bottom of Willow was blazing....then again, when isn't it.

A couple of WTF's?
1. When did all the P-Lines develop around the rocky sections at the top of Lizard?
2. The new top section of Camarillo sucks. It looks really really nice, but it is built really really bad. No Flow, turns are to tight, and even riding it slow shows how bad it is.
3. They dumbed down the first rocky turn on Camarillo....bummer.

Otherwise it was a nice afternoon out there. Not very crowded.

Log Jammer did not live up to its name and was tree-free. One big one down on leprechaun with a go under-slowly.
Manzanita was in amazing condition with loose sections and sketchyness
Trail conditions were perfect. As I stated elsewhere, I did not even get dirty.

Is that the same “go under” that’s been there? I remember it the last couple times we’ve done it. Pretty cool feature...

Santiago Oaks with Jon K, Todd, Steve Y, Keith E, Martha W and assorted trail work hooligans. Short loop on Yucca, Coachwhip and Deer (I think?). Only 2nd time in park, and this was a clinic for design solutions, so we stopped a lot and talked about run-off management, turn shaping and other weird stuff. I had a nice chat on the way up the first climb with a cool 71 yr. old hiker who's current passion is taking part in fundraising events for veterans. Also hung with some more hikers on the climb out of the park, partially because I wasn't feeling great and decided to push my bike, and partially because we had a big group and I wanted to spread some good will. Climbing was work today, but the descents were fun.

If I wanted to check out the Camarillo changes on a quick ride... Quail to Camarillo to Stage Coach/Nix and back on the Wood Canyon Trail? Looks like that is under 15 miles. Maybe a couple thousand feet. Better way?

Rode Santiago Oaks Sunday as well for my first time. My friend and riding buddy Danny showed me around the canyons and downhills. Coachwhip, Bumble Bee, Chutes, Hawk. Lots of hikers and packs of bikes out there. Everyone seemed to be getting along well. On a day with less crowded conditions I could see these trails being very enjoyable.
Headed back out there Thursday with a demo bike to check it out. Be out there around 330-5 if anyone wants to meet up. I'd like to start meeting some of this group. Thanks

Ridge Park to Lizard to Camarillo to StageCoach to Willow to Fenceline to Ridge Park? Probably about the same.

Nix to Stagecoach, up Camarillo, down Camarillo, Stagecoach to Nix?

Wait - better idea - shuttle it via the 73! Jump off the bridge onto the access fire-road, ride Camarillo, then just go get your car on the 73! Or - just forget to set the parking brake and put it in neutral and it will roll back down to Laguna Canyon Rd. Bingo!!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:
