Agreed, it was glorious. I'll wait for the video to do the talking, but definitely a fun one. We did run into one trail user that wasn't too happy to see us.

Yesterday was awesome! A Dead Cow and Suicide combo... It was a little toasty out there, but the downhills were more than worth the effort. This is a destination route. :inlove:

Uploaded at 10:30... HD versions are still processing. Although... My ancient Session 5's HD does not look anything like the HD from the more modern cameras.

14.5/2600

Dead Cow... Bedding in the brake pads the wrong way.

Suicide:

Faustie got dropped by Bug a few times and reeled him in almost as often. Nice @buggravy !

I'd need a few runs on those two to let go of the chicken levers. But... Good thing I had a skinny Purgatory on the rear! It saved me a few times. :Roflmao

I did walk the toilet bowl... I wanted to see where and how Bug entered it, but I had to take my eyes off him and missed it... Next time.

The difference is, on the trails where I'm able to pull away from @Faust29, when I stop I take a few deep breaths and there he is. On trails where he pulls away from me he stops, lays his bike down, checks his gear, sets up for a pic, prepares a trailside meal, and then there I am.

LOL! Yep, me too. Steve is an ANIMAL.

You two are funny... This is not how I remember most rides. :Roflmao

Been riding the last 10 days straight, mostly just lunch time Luge loops with bigger stuff on the weekends. Went back to Cadillac this morning to see if I could move up the leaderboard a bit more. A very misty start to the day, had to ditch the glasses cos they just fogged up straight away. Felt very weird to be back on the squishy geared bike. I think its the first time I've ridden it this month. The creaky CSU on the single-speed has finally got to me so that bikes out of the rotation for the foreseeable future while I deal with customer service :gag:
Climbed out of the murk at the top of Modjeska grade. Passed a group of riders where the old gate used to be on STT. Looked like one was having problems with his cassette or rear mech. They seemed to have it in hand so I just said hello and kept going. A couple of old ducks taking up the whole trail on the climb up fu hill. The bell moved them and my cheery hello was met with silence. There were a couple of guys dropping into the Luge but after that I had the place to myself. Made reasonable time to the top of Cadillac and dropped in. So much easier on a squishy bike! I got a bit carried away in a few places and was getting drifty in the soft stuff. Nearly blew through a few corners not being able to pull up in time. Had a huge moment near the bottom, you have to sort of skirt the edge of a rut and not fall in it. Calling it a rut isn't doing it service, it is a Cadillac sized rut so quite capable of swallowing you whole. I realized I was slipping down the side of it so threw out the anchors, the end result was a lot of dust a full 180 spin and a stem to the guts but otherwise surprisingly unscathed. Rolled out the rest of the way and said thanks to the bike gods for letting me ride away from what would have been a big 'un if I'd been spat of mid spin. Definitely would have been a new PR if I'd managed to hold onto it, oh well, there's always next weekend.
Cruised back home via O'Neill.
I'm hoping to do a Harding, Joplin loop tomorrow, that'll have me close to 30,000ft for the last 2 weeks. I really don't know how some of you animals do this consistently!

It's outside the Laguna bubble.

Two comments:

1.) I leave the Laguna bubble to ride up to a half dozen times per year. That's even including Luge and Whiting as within the Laguna Bubble! But fundamentally, you're not wrong. I did Chilao this year, so there's that. Suicide when the weather cools.

2.) Interrupters do not know how to make a bad song. I swear, I love every song I've heard from them. Thank you for feeding the forum with same.

1.) I have ridden with you outside the Laguna Bubble….so yes I know you get out from time to time.

2.) Agreed

I went out today......

Once again, a later start than I'd like. Slept like crap last night, so didn't get out of bed til 6:30.

Got loaded up to head over to Chino Hills and realized I had no back brake. Pulled the pads.....contaminated. :bang: So spent 20 mins getting new pads in.

By the time I got to Rim Crest and on my bike it was 9:00. It was warm, but not hot. Southridge, Diemer, Telegraph. I really wanted to head into the back of the park, but the late start had me second guessing that. Instead I chose to go up Sycamore. It started to warm up. There is no shade. It was a little ugly from my perspective. I did have to stop about 1/2 way up for a breather. Continued on to Gilman Peak......not as ugly, but the legs were feeling it.

Turned around and back down Sycamore, the up Telegraph. The breeze finally started to blow and temps were actually not bad. Did a quick extra credit past 4C, then took a break on the way back. Bovininian was a crawl, but I cleaned it. At Southridge the breeze was in full effect. Made the left turn and went up to San Juan Hill. Stopped at the top and took in cool'ish breeze.

Finally started my way back down Southridge to Rim Crest. Was looking to the right down the canyon and saw something out of my left eye coming towards the trail....a large deer darted across the road about 25' in front of me....close call. I know there are deer out there, but in all the years, this is only the 2nd or 3rd time I've actually seen one.

Didn't feel great, but kept pushing on. Seems as though I'm hit or miss on good days/bad days. I'll have to see how I feel when I ride tomorrow.

Rode SART today, from the Post office to South Fork & back. Hwy 38's still closed from Middle Control Road to Glass Rd., maybe to Barton Flats, so no bro trains! In fact, I only encountered 5 other riders, all coming down as I went up. The bridge across Schneider Creek (at least I think that's the name) is gone, with a lot of water still in the creek.

A lot of loose terrain, and you know that one particularly sketchy spot where a tree hangs out onto the skinny off-camber trail at a corner? Yep, clipped it with my right pinky, & bob's yer uncle, went over the side! Luckily grabbed a bit of wood that was propping up the downward side of the trail, & avoided a loooong slide. Whew! Gonna walk that bit next time. A few downed trees on the trail, easy HAB-arounds. Mid-70's temps, can't wait for fall to ride this again!

As I was putting away my surfboard after this morning's session, I heard a faint whimpering coming from my storage closet. I opened it to find a very sad, mint green beast gently weeping. I felt so bad, I put some air in the tires, lubed the chain and took it out for some exercise.

Evening laps at Aliso. Mind you, I haven't ridden in a month, and that was the "epic" rides in Tahoe with my brother.

Still, it felt wonderful to get out and ride my bike again. Started pedaling at 5:30 and it was around 79° - not bad. Slight breeze made it very pleasant.

When I finished, I looked up and saw @Faust29 - well not exactly - but I saw his backyard hills. See?

Hi Steve!

12.5 miles 1771'

Bikes are still fun. Surf and turf days - deliciously decadent!
