How do I get over the fear?

My advice:
If it scares you, you are not ready, and need to stop.

So you're saying if you are scared of doing something, it means you are not ready for it? Hmmm ok. IF most people followed that principle, we'd all be very boring uneventful people. I say go for it. Believe in yourself. Picture it in your head, smoothly descending and riding it out like a boss. It's obviously a mental block for this guy. Visualize it in your head over and over. Standing up with pedals flat, ass back almost over the rear tire, elbows bent putting pressure on the front wheel, look way ahead and drop in. YOU GOT IT!

"Fear causes hesitation, and hesitation will cause your worst fears to come true. " Bodhi

or

Hesitation breeds devastation.

or

Do or do not. There is no try.

or

Walk today. Ride tomorrow.

or

Now is not a good time to require medical intervention.

or

Hold my beer.

or

Measure twice and cut once

(wait... what?)

There is a difference between fear, and intimidation. Until you have learned the difference, you are not ready to up your game. After you have learned the difference, you can recognize what is within your abilities, and what isn't, and push your new found limits.

So, if it scares you BUT you know the difference between fear and intimidation. You can make a judgement based on your own abilities. BUT, if it scares you AND YOU DON'T KNOW the difference between fear and intimidation. You are not ready for it and should go back to the bunny slope???? OK got it. Crystal clear.

BTW intimidation is a direct result of fear. You are only intimidated if fear is already present. Without fear there is no intimidation.

Don’t forget that thing about being safe!

Great.... We sent him into the abyss. Those who recommended restraint are vindicated. Oh well, live and learn. I'll get it right with the next one. :p

Meh.....either he makes it...or he doesn’t. He rides an ebike so I don’t really care.

Perhaps riding a regular bike would make it easier.

At the end of the day....we can tell him how to do it..::but it’s up to him to try it or not to.

I'm not going to argue semantics. Do your thing.

If so, I've crashed there. Hard.
No dropper and steep head angle, but they main reason was that my hips were not bent and weighted back...panicked and hit there brakes, slide into over the bars.

Get your weight back, get and keep momentum, look where you want to go, NOT where you don't want to go..
But it's very doable,
GREAT. Exacerbate my fear:laugh:

I think I'm gonna need more reps at that trail. I'm certain that once I do it, it won't seem like a big deal at all. But until then...

You need to lose your fear of going uphill first.

Out of all the advice written here this is the best of it, overcome your fitness barriers and you will find all of whatever skill you have will come easier, not to mention your confidence in what you can tackle, it’s a piece by piece puzzle that you need to have patience for dude, you got this or you don’t? No excuses, sell that E-bike and suffer it out and come out stronger than you thought possible. Sorry I tell like it is. :) Life is not a bowl of cherries. :sneaky:

@Frank

Are we talking about 3:27 here?

I did not see anything, except SLOW down when near WALKERS. Geeze you are on two wheels with gravity on your side. I saw the trail get a little wider when you passed the first dude. if we show a few seconds of courtesy the trail system will stay open. In a month the trails will be dusty, and nobody wants to eat your dust.
happy widening the trails
