HOCKEY IS BACK!!!!!

I require photographic evidence of this...

Hold my beer, while I ask my mom.

I was also in a Pearle Vision commercial playing hockey with their, at the time, new unbreakable lens.

Fun fact: The Zamboni was invented right here in So Cal and you can still see the first one outside of the rink in Paramount. I think the Kings own it now but that was the rink I filmed the commercial at.

Rangers won their first first-round game v Washington. Colorado lost their first first-round game against the Jets. I think each of them will exit the series this way - Rangers will dispatch Washington. Colorado will succumb to Winnipeg.

That long-awaited Rangers v Colorado Stanley Cup Final will not happen this year.

Hockey for me as a fan is gone until October. Might watch some of the playoffs.

How about the Phoenix franchise being sold and moved to Utah. The team is going to called just Utah for a year or two.

All the Phoenix/Arizona IP stays with the crappy former owner.

Well, the team that replaced the former Coyotes is currently manhandling my Avalanche!

"Manhandling" is a bit of an exaggeration. Jets beat the Avs 7-6 in game one and are currently trying to even it up by trailing the Avs 4-2 with 10 mins remaining. C'mon Avs!

EDIT: They listened to me. Won 5-2.

Boston is way to dirty and physical for Toronto. I pray Toronto overcomes the challenge. Boston in 6
New York is a way better team than Washington. But you never know, it's the playoffs. New York in 5
Florida is way better than Tampa Bay. Tampa has big guns leading with the Hart Trophy winner Kutcherov who had his best season yet. Florida in 6
Carolina is a way better than New York. The Isles tend to choke and ruin for themselves. Carolina sweeps.

West Coast
Dallas is not better (in the playoffs) than Las Vegas. Somehow Vegas turns it up past 11 in the playoffs. Vegas in 5
Winnipeg and Colorado (IMO) are evenly matched. Colorado is subpar on the road. Winnipeg in 7
Vancouver is way better than Nashville. How did the Predators even get in? Vancouver in 6
Edmonton is way better than LA. As long as McDavid and Draisitl can produce the Oilers can go far. Edmonton in 6.

Round 2 is when legit matchups start. IF NYR faces the Canes it will be a tough series. Not making any predictions past the 1st round. Except NYR and Oilers in the final. With NYR rasing the cup at the end.

Not in any pool but here is who I had picked. Useless to go beyond round 1 but I do anyways....

BOS over TO in 5
CAR over NYI in 5
FL over TB in 6
NYR over WSH in 5

DAL over VGK in 6 (not looking good now)
EDM over LA in 5
COL over WPG in 7
VAN over NSH in 6

Round 2
DAL over COL in 6
EDM over VAN in 6

BOS over FL in 6
CAR over NYR in 7

Round 3
DAL over EDM in 7
BOS over CAR in 6

SCF
DAL over BOS in 6

Well I was delightfully wrong. After getting beat by the Jets in game 1 6-7, the Avalanche showed no mercy winning 4 straight by a combined 22-8.

Buh bye Jets. Who's next?
Dallas or Vegas - Colorado has historically struggled against both franchises in playoffs.

Historically? For Vegas that's a 5 year old franchise.

And they've been in the finals or damn near most of those years, right?

Even if the history is short, my statement feels like it's true, so it must be true.

Let's check...

In the National Hockey League, the two teams played a total of 31 games before, of which Vegas Golden Knights won 15, Colorado Avalanche won 16 and the two teams drew 0

Well huh. Look at that.

Ooof - They had Edmonton on the ropes 3-0 in the series and have lost the last three by a combined 18-5.

I really want a Canadian team to win the cup this year

and just like that - I've handed it to Florida!
The worst part of all of this is that Game 7 is in Florida. The pressure for the Panthers is extreme, and when the Oilers win and break the McSorley curse once and for all, it will occur on a part of the planet ice hockey exists only in fantasy land.

Florida is a better team. Although I want Edmonton to win. McDavid is unreal and a lot of fun to watch. Maurice deserves a cup …great stats and personality. He deserves it. IF Bobrovsky plays like he can, the cup goes to Florida. It’ll be a great game no matter what.
