Gas...

Exactly....oil prices go up....gas prices spike the next day. Oil prices drop like an anchor, and it takes gas prices weeks to move just a little. Scam.

There's two stations in the city I work for that are right across from each other. They are owned by the same company. One is generic and one is branded Chevron. Generic is always ~$0.50 cheaper a gallon. Exact same gas.

That's crazy, but there's such a disparity even among local prices as well. Regular gas from various ARCO stores on the West end of the valley is $2.99 or less. I'm super stoked that I bought an electric car just in time for gas prices to plummet as my electric bill sky rockets.

Yet our gas is still close to $3 a gallon.
Solar, baby...making money today...

I remember being in Italy in 2005, and calculated the price to be roughly $5 a gallon there. Or maybe it was $8? I think it was $5.

In Germany, regular gas was over $4 per gallon... when I lived there back in 1983! I can't imagine what it is today.

FWIW, I just filled my tank at the Costco outside of Charlotte, and 93 octane premium was $1.799. Regular was $1.499

Solar, baby...making money today...
Just checked, my roof made 52 kWh each of the last two days...good for >$10/day, or 175 miles of driving per day...with my wife & kids at home, the three dinosaur burners aren’t seeing much action, my commute in the “solar-powered” car is all we’re doing. After all these rainy 6 kWh days it’s good to see the sun!

As I was saying, crazy times...

I still consider our investment in solar panels for our house in California one of the smartest things I have ever done financially. 100% cash purchase, and the system paid for itself in four years. Now it just prints money every day while reducing our carbon footprint. If I were staying in California, I would double the size of the system.

In North Carolina our electricity is so cheap that it doesn't make sense to get solar, unless you want to do so strictly for environmental reasons. The electricity here costs about 20-25% what it does in SoCal. However it does not make me happy when I think about the big coal-fired plant that provides it :(

Drove past a station at 2.19 last night.

Separately, in terms of cost-of-living differences between states, our car insurance in North Carolina costs 1/3 what the same coverage cost in Orange County, CA. But California has long been known as an expensive state for car insurance due to such a large number of uninsured drivers.
A friend of my ex wife moved out to NC. They are moving back. While the cost of living was lower, so was the pay. The loss in overall household income was MORE than the reduction in costs to live, so they came back.

I just topped off my V with 87 octane at one of my low price work route connections. I paid $2.69/gallon. Not bad for Top Tier gas but I am complaining, nonetheless.... a few weeks ago I paid $2.49/gallon there and while the average price for gas is slowly dropping everywhere, these guys actually raise their price?!

Saw $2.17 somewhere yesterday, I think in Riverside.

Getting 35 MPG in my car still, with the big E hanging off the back. Still don't think much about it. Maybe I'll change my opinion when I start living in the ambulance?

It seems to me that prices have increased about 5 cents or so in my area this week.
I feel so bad that you're paying so much more and I've hardly left my house in a month except to ride . I'm thinking we post a GOFUNDME on imtbtrails to cover the Sssnakes gas increase. Your thoughts....

And I've had a beer expense increase here at home, so while we're at it.....

Still haven't filled-up any of the cars. How are we doing?
Are the Saudis and Russians still "hurtin' for a squirtin'?"

I paid $3.49, because I don’t know where the cheaper ones are yet. South Canada is a whole new world!

My grandmother would not appreciate all the Canada jokes... Sorry, Grandma.
Everything is more expensive here. That’s the cost of living in the center of the universe.

But I will look for a better diesel price in the region since I have a base rate to compare to now.

I won't complain... It's probably still $4.00+ in RSM...
