First rains?

Spoken like a true non-surfer! :)

Rain - especially early rains after a long dry spell - brings tons of Sh!t into the ocean - literally and in the broader sense. That and the fact that the waves are usually a jumbled mess due to accompanying winds means only the most foolhardy will go surf in SoCal during or immediately after a rain.

Besides. You wouldn't want me to get wet, would you?

EDIT:
Just checked Surfline. About ten people out at Lowers and six out at HB - north side of pier. There are decent-sized waves. Pretty crumbly and lumpy, but rideable. So it's just the septic factor to consider. Tradeoff with the low crowd factor.
I figured that you were gonna throw the bacteria/risk of illness thing out there. What does that tell you about the world we live in? :(

On and off rain in RSM all night... But it wasn't supposed to interfere with the ride plans. I had my "winter" bag all packed, and was ready to roll into the weather. Then the ride fell apart with a 3 AM text... Maybe tomorrow.

I thought Upper Harding was going to be the winner as usual, but there are a few surprises in there. Southern Ladera Ranch close to the 74, Aliso Viejo, and Santa Ana had some good precipitation. And apparently, Disneyland doesn't do rain. Cast member with an umbrella over the rain gauge? :stop:

Yeah, blame the sick guy. Better today then next weekend or the weekend after. Still hoping to get out today.

I am in Anaheim and it started raining around Dodger stadium. Pouring right now. Hope it’s not like this tomorrow at Disneyland.
One of my best days with my son was a rainy day at Disneyland, we’re talking El Niño downpour. Dress accordingly: Board shorts and sandals on the bottom, fleece and hard shells on top. Had him sit on my shoulders and hold the umbrella between rides, we did Big Thunder on repeat until my inner ear gave out—the place was all ours.

Was going to swim laps in the back bay with the wife tomorrow, but I’m not fond of hepatitis and diarrhea.

I think our record was 11 times in a row on Grizzly River!

Maple Springs is actually quite nice in the rain... It does not turn to mud like Black Star. STT out to the Luge is also usually fine when wet.

STT to the Luge has some muddy spots in the first few miles that can be deal-breakers when wet, at least until it's had a little sun or wind to dry it out. >>Wheel-packing, bike-stopping deal-breakers<< so it's best to give it some time once the rain stops. There's less clay past the flag, and the Luge itself can be ridden wet, but it can be a slip-and-slide.

There's also a concern with mudslides and rockfall when the ground gets saturated. Situational awareness is key, especially when traversing steep slopes. Just cuz it's open doesn't mean it's safe, and just cuz it's accessible doesn't mean it's tame.

We came here in 98 and it haled and rained most of the day and it was still a fun day. Still talk about also.

My lawn is loving this, just seeded some bald spots a couple weeks ago and the new growth is going to thrive with the natural rain. Must be the nutrients in rain because my lawn always gets much greener after some good soakings.

Using today to change lightbulbs inside and outside the house, changed home HVAC filter, defrosting kegerator, fixing kitchen cabinet door, got potassium and replenished water softener, clear slow drains in bathrooms, figuring out how to reupholster out kitchen table chairs and having a few beers.
