Fashion Statement Thread

I will assume that you do not actually ride with two fingers on your brake lever, especially with your left hand (unless your brakes are set up moto).

Thanks for approving my floop outfit !!! No, I only use a finger, with this new to me slx brakes/ice tech rotors combo which I totally love, coming from elixir rl, (stock on my stumpy), because with my other stock brakes I was using 2 fingers and sometimes coming down fast they kind of lost biting power, and thanks to my jensonusa friend/mechanic Nick suggestion, I'm a shimano lover now(actually I'm saving some $$ to change my current shifters/derailurs/cranks/bb/chain/cassette to shimano slx/xt combo)

Dear Herz

Is it ok to wear a T-shirt of your favorite band while riding?

Or is that a fashion faux-pas?

Cheers

Andy

Depends on the band, and the location of your riding. Sounds like a whole new thread about threads. I'll start. Slayer shirt on A-Line is OK. (I actually can't stand Slayer, but metalheads and A-Line seem to go together).

Floop and Little River Band? England Dan and John Ford Coley?

The key is to not merely play the part of someone not giving a sh!t. You have to truly not give a sh!t. It's the price of freedom.

Blasphemy!!!!!

Unless I miss my guess, you sound pretty serious about not giving a sh!t, which, ironically and paradoxically, makes you care about being perceived as not giving a sh1t!

If a mountainbiker doesn't give a shart in the woods, did they not give a shart, or didn't they not give a shart?

edit: cleaned it up a little :D

Haute couture or apathy...you decide.

Dudes you guys are way over thinking this, just wear black or very dark shades of grey. Thats how I roll :ugeek: ...

good guys wear white.jpg

Spectacular in its simplicity. The glasses-helmet combo rocks, and the car adds perfect B and W contrast. The IMTB Fashion Consultant asks you to add a small swatch of bright blue somewhere, to subtly acknowledge the beauty of your bike's paint. Just don't add a bright blue bandana under your helmet!

Underlying issues, extreme self-confidence or reverence for the 70s.

Not that there's anything wrong with that, if that's who you are...

What kind of fashion critic are you? You're fired.

Find me a picture of any guys wearing cutoff jeans shorts... Hint - Look under "Village People" or maybe "Reno 911"

Again - not that there's anything wrong with that..

You know how there are some women that could make a potato sack look like 'high fashion'?

Well, I can make high fashion look like a potato sack.

Many of us wore cut-offs decades before the village people. I did and still do. I never listened to disco and I don't know or care what Remo 911 is. Didn't check the your link.

I know you mean it in fun, but, Chris, your comments cross the line and sound hateful. I don't care what you say about me, but using sexual orientation as a joking snipe makes you look very lame. And Mikie, you condoning that kind of language on southern California's premiere mountain biking site makes this site look lame. Is that what we do here now? If it is, I'm not a part of it.

Stop the press!
Mike you put it out there public so I am going to respond in public.
You jumped on board and threw your cut offs in the mix in jest and in jest you got a response.
The problem with our society is it is too thin skinned, and you are contributing to that flow of thought with your interpretation.

This IS a premiere Mountain Bike Website where real mountain bikers belong, ride, share, and participate.
The humor here has been nothing more than that and intended as that.

All,
This site will not be considered politically correct. If it can be said around the kitchen table, it can be said here. The only rule that will be adhered to is personal attack and insult. But that has to include intent, and THAT is where it often goes astray...

Please understand the intent was in jest...

Start the press...

Hokey dokey Mr. Mike. Don't want to push the humor into the offensive zone, and offensiveness is in the eye of the beholder, not the sender. Consider it edited, unless someone has quoted me (since I can't edit that).

PS My link was a Seinfeld episode that has George and Jerry backpedaling about an assumption made about their relationship, saying "Not that there's anything wrong with that.."

One question though...

Since my attempts at humor often tickle the fringes of things we hold dear (usually including my own foibles, oddities and preferences) does that mean I can no longer poke fun at the Fullerton Loop, 29ers, trendiness, Varaxis' complicated posts, people who prefer climbing over descending, lycra and myself? Can I at least publicly dislike IPA?

No, I get it. I've shown my own thin skin when it comes to my family or work priorities.

I'm returning to my smartass ways - so if I offend you, call me out on it.

Well, I remember seeing a pro mountain biker (or at least a really good one) riding in some tight jean cut offs. I figured it would be a good idea to google "jean shorts bikes"

Let's just say, I did not find the photo that I was looking for even though I searched thousands and thousand of photos. ;) (Feel free to try and search for yourself. Kind of bothers me that I can't find his name)

I think a lot of hipsters wear jean cut offs. I'd wear them if I was a bit taller and skinnier without a care. (or had muscular legs)

Seems normal to me. (First photo to illustrate jean cut offs - second to show "Reno 911" shorts)
