Went out to Old Camp today.....it was ebikapalooza out there....must have been a convention. The overflow lot was packed, and there were easily 20 ebikes....who then looked like they were shuttling to MS/Joplin. WTF?

We also got passed by 3 of them on Goat Hill(just past Luge)....flying up the climb. No, ebikes aren't fast...no, we only run them on ECO, never on Boost, We only use the PAS to crawl up the climbs.....BS ebikers.

Study on ebike-related severe injuries (prompts for compatible infrastructure):

Ebiker who collided with old lady leading to fatal head injuries Aug 28 '18, on chipped bike able to provide motor power up to 50 kph (31 mph, 2x higher than class 1), cleared of charges in trial since ebiker had right-of-way and lady ran out in front of him (he fled scene of accident).

The question of where the line should be drawn. I would assume even eBikers don't want to share Santiago Oaks with dirt bikes, right? So where is the line beyond non-motorized Vs. motorized? What should be banned?
So...this isn’t even hypothetical anymore, I came upon a guy in full moto kit riding his electric dirt bike on Roadrunner today...

I’ve been looking for an electric moto to keep out at Johnson Valley. This one was a cheap Chinese unit, not an Alta or Zero. But still...

It's been happening for a while....however, the ones I saw were up on top of Barham Ridge down to Anaheim Hills Rd(under Robbers Roost), down Oak and down Peralta. 20 or 24" wheels, fat tires, no pedaling, battery covering the entire main triangle, and they flew up the climb. When you see them, report them. They need to know that they are out there.

The ranger was out in his truck, I should have thought to mention it to him.

Tra-la-la:whistling:
You guys are doin great, keep it up
I used to love riding the bike path from Santa Monica to Redondo...now with all of the rented electric scooters it’s absolute pandemonium! These people don’t have a clue how to ride these machines:confused:
This is what I think the ebike situation will turn (or is turning) into on our precious trails
Edit~ Love ya @Mikie :inlove::oops:

In my teenage years we would ride from PV to the bike trail trailhead at Torrance beach to Santa Monica and back. You would see only roadies, some cruisers and skaters. Those were the days. Now its a sh*t show out there.

I apologize for breaking up the after party... :(

Sooooooooo here's the deal...
I once again found zero value added in discussing eBikes on the Site. Sent out some hints, people got emotional, members said things they should not have said, actually against policy and all. Places Mikie in a difficult spot. We made the conscious decision a while ago to focus our cycling activity on non motorized cycling so lets try our best to rebrand to that.
So I'm shutting this thread down.

You wore a thong Ed!? Like @Danmtchl said...sh!t show :Roflmao
My bio dad lived in Venice Beach and owned a store right on the boardwalk until I was 14, so I spent many weekends there...lots to see for sure o_O
My family owned a couple businesses in Venice right at the peer, Nicks liquor(still there) and the Cheese and the Olive delicatessen till the mid nineties. I learned everything I needed to know about life and lots of stuff I didn’t need to know at pretty early age in Venice.
