Not totally true....I spent a while a few weeks back talking to the Ranger at the Oaks. They are still in the process of making their own decision....but that will be weighted by what how the users feel about it. On top of that, he sees a lot of the same issues we see. He was out demo'ing an e-moto that day.

I've had a couple of similar conversations with him over the last month when I've seen him out on the trails. He seems to have a good perspective, is very thoughtful about it, and is interested in what trail users think.

I agree with Mikie; there's nothing of value in these ebike discussions. Eliminate the threads. Obviously almost every member is against eMTB's, so why pontificate the same drivel continuously. It seems extremely harsh to single out a good bike shop because they sell or assemble ebikes. Perhaps they're all commuters ; my ecommuters are all mountain bikes because I dislike road bikes.

Do you ride an eBike? Do you sell them?
I see you shared you have a Focus. I saw a couple on top of a car rack once and they were pretty awesome.

Just to clarify, it is possible that the bike Neal rides and identifies in his profile (a Focus) is an e-bike since Focus does make e-MTB's.

Thanks DD! I think his arrival and departure was a "Dart and Dash" post. Not thinking there will be a return...
I don't log on to the forum for the week and we are on the verge of killing each other over e-bikes? I like it :sneaky:
NAHhhhh! Tain't no killin' goin on heahhh. A little known thing in this world that potentially and apparently may be re-condensating called common sense, maturity, and analytical thinking may be making a comeback in the USA.
Always been present on imtbtrails. Hee hee! ;)

I think the pot needs some more stirring...

You guys know that I'm open to e-bike to those that have a need like myself but at this point in my life (just turn 60) I still want to peddle my way uphill without assistance even tho I'll probably regret it halfway going up, so this weekend I bought a Giant Stance 27.5 1. This is my first FS bike.

wife and i went for a hike in oneill yesterday. 5 mile loop on live oak. Very alone out there that day, except for a young (not disabled or obese) guy on an ebike. My wife, who doesnt ride, just thought that was f#$cked up. It looked a lot like that giant in the pic.

At the end of my ride on Saturday, I was going to jump into O'Neill off of Camino Montana (church end), but I was passed by several e-bikes on the paved path. I stuck to the path all the way back to the RSM Lake to see how many more there were, and ended up passing no less than 12 of the contraptions. Test rides from the new Pedego store?

E-bikes have there place and they are admittedly rather fun, in their own way. I have been riding my shops demo a bit and i couldn't help but think about the future of land management, of bicycles and motorcycles, as I road along.

SAD! Really Sad! My biggest fear is the human powered MTB will go the way of the 26" tire and it will be over night. I get the concept of getting older, or having some kind of handicap, but there are not enough people in this category for it to be a profitable market, I think most "older people" more or less give up because it's just more easy to do so, so I would think they can't rely on the older people. But they can rely on the handicaped. Obviously a handicap by definition is, " any disadvantage that makes success more difficult". That being clarified, the bigger marketable majority are the people who have a mental handicap that goes against any forms of putting forth effort. This is a formatable handicap and is the majority. This new motor bike is set to take flight and thus make MTB even more popular than ever as seen on the trails now. This will equate into so many more problems, somehow as a society we are programed to self destruct. I read somewhere that a mentaly stable person excepts that everything is going to change at some point.
