Bike part disappointment....

It's also happens to be national vodka day!

CHEERS David!!!

The absolute best amuse bouche burger in the world was delivered to my table by Wolfgang Puck. It was smaller than a golf ball, but I can still taste it... :inlove: I actually liked it better than the raw tuna in an ice cream cone he brought in the previous round! :D:p

Yeah... I didn't know what "amuse bouche" meant either. My wife had to school me. She really has to work at it to take me out in public.

Burgers win over poke any time!

I know what it is, but am reluctant to say it in polite company.

Can't say I have been truly disappointed with any parts that I didn't break.

No, actually that is not true.

XTR 980 pedals.....second ride out, the dust seals popped out on both pedals. Shimano warrantied them, but they did the same thing within a year, and I was constantly having to adjust the preload in the spindle. Finally gave up on them and bought some XT's.

SLX 6000 Cranks. No issues the first 7 months or so....but now they won't stay tight. Tighten the preload, tighten the pinch bolts to Shimano torque spec. Within a few rides, you can feel them rocking side to side.

Crank Bros. Kronolog Dropper. For once we had one that ran great for about a year with minimal riding.....now it is starting to sag.

I don't get disappointed with tires anymore. If I buy one....I'll ride it til it dies, then replace it with something else.

I have a buddy (George who was at the big Wrightwood ride with me) who will ditch a tire after ONE ride if he doesn't like it. Sometimes he sells them on PB but I usually buy them for 1/2 price and have got a couple for free that had less than 5 rides on them. The craziest part is he actually pays a shop to swap out that tires but they might be doing it for free since he is such a good customer.

I love ESI grips, but they are a bitch to get on a carbon bar. They are the only grips that I liked riding without gloves and the extra chunky versions had enough padding to quiet arm soreness. The only grip is that its hard to install and once it frays at the end the rip moves up with every ride. I believe they are the only grips that really can replace OEM grips for a twist shifter.
ESI grips on and off in a snap with an air compressor with air gun attachment. Without, I agree it is a huge pain.

Scully's tip of the day! Some rubbing alcohol is 50% 70% does not stick well. Currently using cheapo 91% Equate=good. Some brands are 99%, that's the good stuff.

I use Isopropyl alcohol very liberally or Finish line bike cleaner( pink stuff) to get tough to get on grips. What works really well is the Finish Line Speed cleaner, but be careful it may eat the grip up if you use to much.

Sounds like @LLPoolJ

(He is one of my tire sponsors )

My only regret for bike parts has been Crank Bros pedals...constantly breaking springs but the final straw was when the pedal pulled off the spindle mid ride...They were always great for support in their defense...but just got tired of the mid ride issues.

Same here. I have at least five sets of tires with 1-2 rides on them. I will use them eventually though.

I guess after years of running really sketchy XC race tires, I have learned to run just about anything. I guess that is why I don’t get disappointed with tires. I may not like a specific tire, but that just means I won’t buy another one....but I’ll run it til it wears out.
