The story of my weekend...

I'm a massive fan of AIPAs (American IPAs) and my growing collection of OC brewery T-shirts is pretty good proof of that but its also fair to say the Brits can make a decent drop every now and then as well. Yes they do make some utter cats piss like wife beater (stella) or room temperature "real" ales drunk by sock and sandal wearing weird beards, but come on you guys are responsible for such atrocities as Bud so you are hardly ones to point fingers and get all high and mighty :p

These are two of the better ones I've tasted recently.....
Probably the smoothest porter I have drunk in a long long time

and this one from a Brewdog called Lost Lager, for a Pilsner I think its been unbelievably well hopped. Unfortunately the only way I've found to purchase it at the moment is in a mixed pack so to drink more than one means buying a total of 8 beers...... Man maths says thats absolute acceptable as needs must but I think the wife disapproves :whistling:

I'm still fiending on the availability of Oskar Blues products around here. From right up the road in Fort Collins, and of course you know their blood runs MTB, yes?

Reeb Cycles: We exist to spread the love of the bicycle and remind us all why we all fell in love with them in the first place. REEB was founded in 2011 by some folks at Oskar Blues Brewery who eat, breathe, sweat, and bleed bikes. When the boss man’s old bike was stolen, the do-it-yourself mentality that pervades OB took over, and a bike company was born.

My time in Oz was spent in Victoria so I was subjected to the horror that is VB, dunno what they put in it but one can was enough to give me a splitting headache the next day. I actually stopped drinking commercial beer when I lived there and brewed my own. Had a pretty sweet all grain setup and kegged. I had a three tap font at home with typically two different styles on at a time.

I did find this in an OC bar on my last trip, Fosters is exported for a reason! In saying that its always worth checking where its brewed, the stuff brewed here in Europe is more drinkable than the muck that comes out of Oz.

Side note - triggered by the Beck's above...

Why do bottlers use green bottles when everything that comes out of them smells like skunk?

I can't tell you how many Stella Artois, Heineken and even Rolling Rocks I have popped open, poured, and then poured down the drain.
I bought another 6 of Stella the other day for a friend who was visiting. He didn't have any. I opened one last night, took one sniff and poured it down the drain. Stella on tap however is quite tasty!

Never buying green bottled-beer again.
