12hrs of Temecula???

Hah! was no where near us in Wrightwood...!
I know that has no drama . . . . but it's true.
I did get pummeled on the way home heading West on Highway 138 west od Lancaster. Hard rain but no lightning...

Hot and dry... Lap 5 damn near killed me. It was hot, and I cramped badly! I got 2 more laps after that, but I fought cramps the rest of the way... I think it's time to pull the plug!

As an aside, and a teaser... I think Herz would have approved of this course. It was mostly twisty single track!

Great day out there, it was cloudly but as soon as we started @9am it was clear and sunny, the trail was nice and flowly, kind of crowded in the 2nd down, need to stop and walk the bike, since there were 5 peeps walking down, it was a good and easy down, but I didnt want to wait and got caugth with more guys coming behind me... nut some climbs were hard, and need to HaB along with others, and I tought we first timers were not going to get timed, so I took it nice and slowly, let a lot of the fast guys fly next to me, I even have time to take a couple pics, and you could hear the rattling from the tenants (rattlesnakes) all the way !! but in the end, on the results.... I was 10 out of 15... man !! and I was faster than 2 guys that finished 7 and 8. well next time I'll beat that 10th place for sure, hope you guys enjoy this few pics !!! [emoji57]

Glad you made it! I may know that fat guy in your first pic. The one in the pinkish jersey with the gray shorts. :-)

My wife assured me that the jersey was really a very masculine "salmon" color... And not flaming pink.

Awww, thanks for bringing me into this thread. Twisty singletrack is great for riding, but can be frustrating for racing. Hard to pass someone. Mind you, I have never actually passed anybody in a race (and haven't raced XC since 1993), so I can only imagine.

It was my second visit to Vail lake.
This time I was part of a 4 man team. I managed to finish 4 laps. Averaged about 45 min per lap.
The team completed 16 laps. I truly enjoined the social aspect of team racing.
Next time I'll camp on site (both nights). The 5am -11pm day was too long for me.

I second that.
