The Baby helped me change an air filter today:

Got all the basics covered:

I think a lot of brand’s are listening to customer pushback on touch controls. VW got rid of the awful haptic controls in the latest releases, and rumor is Subaru is stepping back from the giant screen when they redo the Outback for next year
I hope so! It's what keeps me out of BEVs for sure. Well that and a typical car we buy is around the $10k price point. You can buy a lot of dino-juice for the cost of a BEV!

The Honda prologue , Chevy blazer, and caddy lyriq are all essentially the same vehicle with different spins. Equinox is still based on the ultimate tech, but still a separate vehicle.
Okay, I knew it was one of them.

How do Tesla owners feel about their touch screens?

Makes me wish I had a manual transmission again. At a certain time in my life, after driving manual transmission cars for over 25 years (much of that in LA traffic), I decided it was time to go back to an automatic. Didn't regret it in the short term, but after about 17 years of driving automatics, plus the fact that I no longer drive in LA traffic, I would like to go back. Rented a car on a trip to Spain in the not-too-distant past, and of course it was a manual. Really enjoyed driving that car during the trip.

I've driven a Model 3 Tesla, and while the acceleration, engine braking, and go-kart handling make it exciting and crazy easy to drive, I think it might get boring over time. Maybe, maybe not. Pretty great car.

I definitely prefer to have the most used controls in any car to be manual rather than touchscreen.

Go get one while you can... they are becoming few and far between.
Just read that Ford is going to keep a V8 MT Mustang in production until they are told they can't any more!

I currently have the proper number of pedals, and no screens.
I'm probably going to keep this car as long as I'm driving.
Just hit 238,000 miles Friday!

You can listen to and reply to texts on most modern cars-even the econo-boxes.
But, I get what you're saying. I was horrified once to get in the car with a good friend of mine and he was watching kids in the Halls on his phone while driving. Putz.
I was reading some YouTube comments on a video yesterday, and one of the replies said at the end "I can't explain in too much detail while I'm driving". In other words he was watching the video, reading, AND responding to comments...while driving.

I do see people clearly talking on their phones, phone to their ear, in modern expensive cars.

Further proof that wealth or success are not connected to intelligence.

It doesn't matter how rich or poor, or how well educated or not one is. Anyone can fall into the danger trap that modern conveniences have created.

It's an old Canadian skit TV show. Kind of like The State.

Slipping off-topic briefly, but I love the reference in this Old 97s song. Kinda weird, slightly disturbing video that I've never seen before until looking it up on YouTube today. Always liked the song, though.

They're running a marathon of "Kids in the Hall"
Ghost light dancin' cross the posters on the wall
Doolittle - Pixies and The Slider - T. Rex
I can tell that we'll get along well and I wonder what's next

There are definitely some cameos in that video, now that I've paid attention. Definitely pick out Rick Nielsen (Cheap Trick, which makes sense with the Chicago connection), as well as Janeane Garofalo. Guess I'm not not hip enough to know the significance of the Puddles Pity Party clown, but the person playing that character certainly knows how to play a real guitar. One person looks a bit like Jeff Tweedy (also from Illinois), but could be Paul F. Tompkins, which seems to make sense considering his involvement with Mr. Show with Bob and David (another fringy skit show) that I really enjoyed.

Pam from the Office shows up too.

PSA: If you get the chance to go to an Old 97's show, do it!!!!!!

Got this photo of a Jaaaaaaag being all iconic in LA:

Surprised it runs. My dad has his 89 or 90 V-12 Jag still in the garage and with his dementia is trying to get it running. It did run 10 years ago and he prided himself on being able to deal with smog issues and lack of available parts. - Back in the day he converted a Chrysler diesel station wagon to gas fuel and got it approved based on emissions and a fight.

Anyone got opinions or experience with any of the following?
Audi Q7, Porsche Cayenne, Volvo XC90, Range Rover Sport?
Looking at 2014-2018ish and buying privately cos I only have about 20k tops.
Heard the Audi eats brakes and tyres. 2016-17 XC90 is a lemon and the Rangies british so is going to experience a failure to proceed at some point (but its so good looking).
Not interested in BMW, VW or Mercedes equivalents unless someone can convince me their utter blandness can be ignored for stellar reliability.

If you know someone selling drop me a pm. Cash buyer!

Missus experienced a sudden loss of talent and totaled our Ford exploder

I'd recommend any equivalent-sized Mazda, but it won't meet the snobbery test.

I'm on my second CX-5 and can't think of any reason I won't have a third.
