I Rode My Bike Today...

Great Labor Day ride today. Mikie and Pat (psm) met up with me to ride Wildwood. Nice combination of single track, double track, fire road and a little chunk thrown in. Oh and some water crossings. We hit most of the good stuff all at a mellow pace. Got a little warm (mid 90s) towards the end. Pat has upped his game from the last time I rode with him.

I was having a pre-birthday lunch after the ride so I invited them over. Pat had to get so it was just Mikie, Jennifer and family and me for the pre-birthday celebration.

Hah! I rode my bike today with the two knuckleheads above....... They kicked my azz! AND! I kicked my own azz! (infamous hill^billy quote)
Serves me right for burning the candle at both ends...
Most of this week, I never got to bed before 11:30 and one night after 2:00am working on the Forum. I sought professional help... for the Site!o_O Not Me!;) So now the site is set up to burn a back up copy of the entire forum at 3:00am every morning for safe keeping....

Oh, sorry... what did I do today? OH! I rode my bike today. Got to meet lurker psm (which is dangerously close to PMS! :eek:yikes!) Pat looks like a version of Dusty Roads from ZZTop! I liked the look! Glad you finally came out of the lurker closet doood! Great to meet you and chase you all day!

Ed was a great ride leader today and put together an azz kicker for me anyways! Thank buddy!

...Oh, and the lunch and cake? TOTALLY worth it. That German Chocolate Cake was supah moist. It reminded me of my moms cakes. That is my favorite birthday cake too! Thanks Jennifer!

Please if I did something wrong,, Im so very sorry.. Thank you! hugs ..

Absolutely not! Most of my posts are tongue in cheek - and this was about continuing this loooong thread that I started because I didn't have much to say, nor much to report - just a nice weekday ride. It's great to read everyone's stoke on this thread - and gives us a place to "check in" without having to do an epic ride report. When I clicked on the thread of this title yesterday, it was only 4 posts long and not 40 pages. I thought it had disappeared! Mikie says it was a bug in the system through tapatalk.

Robin, you are literally the last person on this site that could EVER be accused of intentionally doing anything even mildly mischievous (well, other than y, know, with Mr. McG ,well, ummm uhhh.... I better go now). :)

Okay... this is not a double post or anything...
I did happen to ride my bike AGAIN today as well, but with my awesome better half Cathy. We spun up O'Neil Canyon this evening cuz she got a New (to her) Bike!

In fact it was Jennifer's (UPSed and Jennifer) bike sitting in the garage all lonely. I brought it home from Ed and Jennifer's and surprised Cathy with it. She was so excited that she demanded I set her up and we go for a putt up the canyon.
Personally, I thought she was having sex with it. All I heard the whole time was omg......OMG.......OMG!

Now hold tight and embrace for impact... It does happen to be a Specialized Stumpjumper, but it checked all the boxes and Ed and Jennifer were awesome to us on price! Cathy and I are very blessed to have such good friends!
Thank you Ed and Jennifer! Cathy is freaking out happy!

Should've posted this yesterday but I was too busy gettn hammered for my brothers birthday!.......

Wasn't even planning on riding Labor Day til late Sunday so I hit Luis up, and since he owed me a ride out my way we decided to hit up GMR Monroe Truck Trail and Colby Switchbacks, a first for him. Thanks for comin' out Luis bro!..... Had a great ride, 17 miles and 2700, done by 1030 just as the temps and heat were beginning to spike! Oh yeah and a rock must've dented my back rim which caused a flat, ugh, so now time for some new rims (perhaps a blessing in disguise ;))....

According to the garmin, at 7am it was 68 degrees in Wood Canyon (Aliso), 82 at the top of Cholla and 95 at Top of the World around 8am (the garmin tends to overestimate when in the sun). Doesn't sound that bad I guess but it sucked all the energy out of me. I didn't do a second climb, just stayed down in the canyon. Glad I got out but don't think I'll be doing much the rest of the day

Fairly clear today, could see Catalina in the distance....

I rode my bike today. Wanting to do something semi epic on my birthday I decided on Golden Eagle. Met up with Luis in Santa Clarita and Tony met us at the trailhead. Nice climb up the fire road and the temps weren't bad at all. A little breezy on top and plenty of shade and shadows from the clouds to keep us cool. About 8 miles up Tony had to turn back for work related reasons. Appreciate him coming out to ride with me. Luis and I continued to the normal turnaround point. After a quick snack we headed back. On top it is rolling terrain but mostly downhill on the way back. We took a quick break at the top of the final descent and enjoyed the cool breeze with the thunder clouds above us. Lowered my seat 2 cm and let it all hang out! Was a little nervous after my crash on Sunday but shouldn't have worried. Nice clean run back to the car where a couple of 805's were waiting for us. Within a minute or two we started feeling some big drops of rain then the lightning surrounded us with the thunder happening almost immediately. Pretty intense. Nice drive back to Santa Clarita where I picked up my truck then Luis and I drove over to Chipotle where he bought me lunch! What a wonderful way to spend my day!

Rode Bonelli today(it's my usual as it's only 2 miles from home) and did a couple laps on the Turn & Burn course...it was a bit humid and I'm finding I prefer cold weather riding any day over this Swampy stuff! I think I live in the wrong state.

Came across some trail sabotage near the treeline trail part of the course too...

I rode my bike tonight. Went to JRA to pick up their demo HD3 for tomorrow's Big Bear ride and decided to join their night shop ride. I was hoping for a nice mellow pace as I had already ridden once today. It was in the upper 80's and humid when we started. We rode from De Anza Park in Calabasas across Grasslands Trail to Mulholland Hwy where we picked up the Las Virgenes Canyon View Trail. The pace was brutal. A couple of riders actually had to pull over to hack. I'm glad I'm a slow climber as it prevents me from trying to keep up. We turned around about 5 miles in and headed back. A few riders had had enough of the fast pace and started dropping back. We regrouped a couple of times and all finished safely. Wish I was able to do more night rides.
