Very strong group of riders, I think I'm going have to change my tub of cereal to Tailwinds, thanks for waiting for the ride leader? Thinking of changing from hill^billy to Myrtle. None the less thanks great ride, and hopefully next time we can do the hole enchalada. To bad Maddogs derailer changed it's configuration in the begining of the ride , but he at least got Boy Scout in . Time for a new bike dude!

At least it was a short walk to the truck and this didn't happen up top somewhere!

Thought I would let Rod break the ice so to speak. This drop is a 2 footer at slow speed, I was on the trail riding above him when I heard bang, what I thought was a hunter taking him out, saw Rod on the ground, first couple of seconds freaked me out! We must have seen at least 20 hunters up there! Most damage is to the pocket book to replace the carbon rim. Could have been worse. Ride on hot Rod.

Yah. Dumb mistake. Just cruising back to the vehicles and wasn't paying attention. Hit the drop at the wrong angle and blew out the front tire and destroyed the rim. Good news is I'm ok and Ibis said worst case scenario is $300 for a new rim. Worst and best thing about this was we were only 100 yard away from the truck. Live to ride another day!!

Sure, it's more expensive, but I'll bet there is no aluminum rim that would have survived that and still be serviceable.

Given the angle of the hit, I'm relatively sure an Al rim would have been tacoed well beyond repair. That said, an Al rim is much less expensive.

That was my point... it looks like there was a serious lateral load applied after the tire went... nothing is bullet proof. That said, a road rim will take a 2 foot drop if you don't introduce lateral load to it.
