Why not IMTB? Like the logo.
Thanks Ed!
It can be IMTB. There were many people starting to use the phrase IMT that I thought that was the direction the site was going.
This is why I posted these as preliminaries. They are just drafts to get input.

I hope others post their thoughts aw well.....don't be shy!!!

As a reminder, this smiley symbolizes WTF? --> :wtf:
You don't even have an Avatar??? :wtf: <--See how that works?

Re: Working on IMT T-Shirts

In my opinion IMT does not relate to IMTB trails. IMT sounds more like a software company. Everyone knows what MTB is.

Re: Working on IMT T-Shirts

Do you think this would look good on Jerseys? With some obvious additional graphics...

Re: Working on IMT T-Shirts

I'm just being picky and giving you my input but the wings on the chainring look Van Halenish. Any other samples?

And what's wrong with Van Halen??? Hmmmmm?
That's why this is a work in progress.
We can do the Logo without wings... The pic below is just to show without wings...Most likely there would be a pocket print and something like this would go on the back...

Nothing wrong with Van Halen. Jennifer actually pointed it out. Update looks great!

I like the version with IMBT and the wings but black shirt with white graphics.

Personally, I prefer the wings as well... :)

Re: Working on IMT T-Shirts

From one rider to another: It's great that you are fired up to honcho this thing, and are putting your energies into it. Power to ya.

From a branding professional to a site admin: Wings and chainrings...one spent visual cliche from rocknroll and another from the bike industry. Highly predictable and equally forgettable. How about one good logo instead of a potpourri of average ones? Something original and own-able.

Re: Working on IMT T-Shirts

Count me in for t-shirts, hoodies, hats and jerseys...2-3 of each.

Ha! I hear yah mike! Thanks for the input. Who, are still going strong doing concerts?

I sure would not get caught dead in a "Ride Monkey" T-Shirt.

It's true that imtbtrails is still searching for its visual identity. Heck, imtbtrails just celebrated its first year anniversary, but what hasn't already been done? What is the new black?

So we really need to ask ourselves, what are the demographics of this site?

Are we a classic rock mtb group? What are we? Have you done a search of Mountain Bike T-Shirts? I have poured over google for hours! Days!

So what's the Golden Arches of MTB?
MTB is about (cliché coming) "mud, sweat, and gears", a "can do" attitude, going the distance, overcoming obstacles, camaraderie!
....................................................This is wher anyone reading this applies input!

Re: Working on IMT T-Shirts

Perhaps a life behind bars image? Some riser bars overlooking an epic mountain bike destination? Lake Tahoe, Moab?

The guy without an avatar likes the VH wings! We are pilots of the forest

Re: Working on IMT T-Shirts

The thing I liked about socaltrailriders was, it said where I/we are (were) from

Could we at least get a second tag line saying, So Calif... something like that :?:

How about a few MTBers in shadow-type print on bikes over the URL?

FWIW, I love this image.

Agreed, that's cool and fun. Unique to my mind also.

Re: Working on IMT T-Shirts

Thanks for posting some of what's out there media outlet-wise, Mikie. That makes a lot of sense to me.

Simplicity is the common thread with almost no exception. Spare on visuals and illustration. Custom type as a logo even. What they project individually is pretty subjective, but they all are nicely recognizable, have some individual character and visual interest. Minimal symmetry. Their simplicity allows latitude in what additional visuals can happen; not accidental in publication design, and not inconvenient on promotional design pieces.

Brand has come to mean the entire experience, but strip it down for a sec. Think of the visual ID as a flag of ownership, like a cattle rancher would. The brand doesn't try to do much beyond be unique and maybe have some local relevance. Having it simple makes it most reproducible across media types.

PS: Including a tag line with the ID is a great idea. I think the socal nature of imtbt should be explained up front, and maybe mountain biking as well (lest we be mistaken for hikers, etc.). Essentially, the tag line off the home page.

Happy first, yay! *confetti tossing and horn honks*

The examples you posted show that it is possible to be unique among a field. Just a simple something or combo of somethings. The possible combinations of type, color, form, image, are infinite. If you can arrive at something you believe in, and apply it thoughtfully and thoroughly, you're there. Repeating, it's most important to get something in place and begin using it universally in some consistent way(s). You can make it over later, optionally. ID makeovers can be PR as much as design. New ad campaigns, ID's and such are often used to project vitality, new blood, strategic shift, yada.

Re: Working on IMT T-Shirts

Hey Mikie, why don't you throw some nice wide handle bars, with Ross's bell ,and a dropper button, instead of the wings and see what it looks like, (leaving the chain ring)? Handle bars depicting WE are steering it where we want it to go. Now I'm getting crazy and maybe have some gloved hands on the bars, with one finger on the break levers, and include some cables. Steer it! Ride it! So. Calif. Or Flick it! So. Calif.

Looked like a Mini logo to me, with the circle swapped for a chainring.
