You're not supposed to sneak a peek...Man, that is a set of rattles!
I talked to 2 firemen that were up there on "lookout" for any hot spots, neither of them said anything to me about not being able to be where I was. Please stay out of the Holy Fire burn area. I know we are all curious.....but it makes us all look bad.

Kinda sketchy how unafraid that big guy is!So this kind of crossed into a couple of my other posts today. Coming down Monrovia Canyon, right at the dam, was a good sized bear! Looked at me, kept chomping on some bushes, and eventually went down over the side. I came around the next bend and there he was again. 15 more minutes of slowly following him down the hill and he dispersed into the canyon by the bridge near the park. Looked very well fed.

That's because he was thinking to himself, "Don't eat the human or else the easy meals will disappear".Kinda sketchy how unafraid that big guy is!
Haha, yikes! I’ve come pretty close to black bears, but both times they took off, charging through the bushes. That's because he was thinking to himself, "Don't eat the human or else the easy meals will disappear".
Those times, they were thinking, "Don't eat Awesome Sara or else many of the guys at imtbtrails.com will never get to know her."Haha, yikes! I’ve come pretty close to black bears, but both times they took off, charging through the bushes.

Put a little glaze on those paws and you’ll never get enoughNot the paws.
Ohh cool! I don’t like spiders at all, but tarantulas are cool when seen in the wild!I live in South OC, so there is still some open land around here and we get some cool sightings from time to time. Aside from the countless deer and coyote sightings, I’ve been fortunate enough to see a few bobcats and saw a Mtn lion twice right off Antonio Parkway behind Ladera Ranch. Pretty sure it was the same cat as it was practically in the same spot both times. Saw a bear cub while riding up in Bass Lake. Today on my ride through Caspers, saw the biggest tarantula I’ve ever seen. Pretty cool!

Really!! That’s kind of awesome! I only see one every few yrs or so in my mtns.Tarantulas own Black Star Canyon at certain times.
When you hear a crunch...Tarantulas own Black Star Canyon at certain times.
I've never seen a tarantula, maybe they all live in the OC.
Do they come out in winter? I've learned the hard way, That's the only time I'd be caught in chino hills after 10 a.m.Go to Chino Hills in the late afternoon....it is hard to miss them.

Wow, cool pic.
We have them here. They are only active for short periods though. This is the time of the year when you are most likely to see one battling with a Tarantula Hawk wasp. The wasp wins 99.999999999999% of the time. I seen it happening a few times and Ive also seen a wasp dragging its catch off to its den.I've never seen a tarantula, maybe they all live in the OC.
