Who's going where to ride this year.....?

Your poisonous friends should start making their debut by then....By the way, I saw my 1st Mojave Green in Sedona this past October on our way down from Hangover. At least that's what I assume it was. It was definitely a green rattlesnake but a much, much more vibrant green that most Mojave Green photos online. This thing was pissed too and absolutely refused to yield the trail. When it finally did after a few minutes of our staring contest, it backed into a bush 4-5 feet away and rattled at us constantly as we went by.
I'm hoping for my first ever encounter with a Gila Monster. :inlove:

Greens are cool. I've got a picture of me holding one (from Yucca Valley) stashed away at home somewhere.

Do you have any pics of that snake to share?

No, I was too busy watching it. I'm no fan of snakes but it was SOOOOO green that I was pretty impressed. Also, there were other trail users coming up with a dog off leash so we made sure they stopped in time. If we hadn't been there before them, there is no question that dog would have ran right up on the snake because it was dead center on the trail.

I was in Saint George this year for True Grit, but most of the trips for the rest of the year will be one day adventures: Cannell, Palm Canyon in the fall maybe, Big Bear, etc... We'll have one kid in the San Francisco area, and one in Oregon, so there's always the possibility of a quick trip to either of those locales. One area is definitely more friendly to mountain bikers than the other.

Moab stop by Las Vegas cowboy then zen Saint George. After Moab loop by boggy draw Delores Colorado then los burro pinetop lakeside az. Stop by Phoenix for a little trail 100 cuz my brother lives on the trail. Moab on the third of April till I get worn out. Hope I get it done.

From my old Quail & Chukar hunting days, I remember the Mojave Greens as the most angry and aggressive snakes out there. I have an old friend who got hit by one while running his buggy in the desert and we almost lost him. He was messed up for months.

They will actually chase after you a short ways if you piss them off enough. I know this from experience. The one I was holding did not squirm one bit but when I released it, it transformed into an angry pissed off little monster. You’ve never seen SnakeCharmer run so fast...

Brevard NC - Pisgah and Dupont next weekend.
Hood River just after July 4th - we will ride on the day(s) when there is no wind on the river to windsurf. Post Canyon is just outside of town and there are many more very close by. Will skip Ashland and Bend this year.

I spend a summer (92) in Hood River Windsurfing/Biking......I "worked" all summer, and came back home broke.
I would love to go back and kite the river and the OR coast.

I might go crazy and actually ride in various Counties this year!:eek:

I know, right!? I might have a ride somewhere in Riverside, and I’ll probably get in a few pedal strokes in LA County and San Bernardino County since I live near the borderline.

Ok find a chair for this one...I also might venture down to the OC to ride my bike. Woa boy!

I can just imagine the news headline:

"Wolf encountered in Orange County, thought to be extinct for 90 years."

Have you applied for your passport?

I maintained residence behind the orange curtain for several years. I’m practically naturalized at this point; especially since all the raging Persians showed up in their hasty BMWs and started remodeling the place.

Meanwhile, the formidable kiboshspousis wifeyoudontgeto extirpated the Wolfman on the grounds of soiling the species with sweat and sunscreen.

Don't forget the chicken!

Richfield, Utah for this summer vacation with my motorcycle enduro friends/ club. We will mtn bike ride some of the same trials we ride dirt bikes on. A few years ago I bought a $500 motobecane mtn bike off an internet store. I never rode it much and didn't know about local riding trails here in Southern Ca. at all. I brought it 2 years ago to Richfield, Utah to ride with our motorcycle enduro club. I just walked by it with little interest and didn't ride it. My friends were using their side by side Rhino to shuttle their bikes to the top of a nearby trail system and to ride down. This year will be totally different. Now I have a real interest to ride those trails plus a number of others near Marysvale, Utah if we have the time. I cant' wait!

I've been riding Marysvale ( Lizzie and Charlies ) for over 20 years with my Enduro club and on my own with my kids. My daughter and I have a loop that's around 100 miles that we like to do in that area. Marysvale to Big John Flats then down to Circlville and a Burger, fuel up ( when Circleville had fuel ) and then back to Marysvale. I call it " post card " riding because we're not there to race but to enjoy the extreme beauty of the area. The trail I have in mind for mtn. bikes would be going down Deer Creek trail out of Hoover's.

You know the area better than I do...I'll just follow you around.

Sometimes the grass is not always greener on the other side.......

I was invited to attend a trade show in Milan the other day, so my wife made a "workcation" out of it.
I ended up spending a weekend @ Lake Como. The place is nice, but the one ride I managed to ride was mediocre at best.

Yeah, that must have sucked  Both my kids got transferred to Europe this year with the Army (my son just got to Brussels on Sunday) so I'll be getting overt there at least 3 weeks a year for the next few years. I've never been anywhere over there so it will be all new to me.
