Whiting Ranch Ultimate Time Trial- 21 March 2015

My first time at a race for support purposes and that was fun and interesting. Good to hear so many people having a fun time. Non-Dot does a great job. I was a bit jealous as the 2nd wave of racers were headed out.

This was my first ever mountain bike race and I had a blast! I was in the old & slow class, or 40-49 beginner. My only goal going in was to finish, and to not finish in last place. Well, I accomplished both. Race time was 31:58. 9th out of 12 in my class. So, the takeaway is that I'm slow, but at least not the slowest! Looking forward to round 2 at Aliso Wood.

That beginner men 40-49 class is competitive as heck! Nice job on getting out there and racing.

The best advice I have seen yet on racing for fun:

DNF is better than DNS
Finishing is better than DNF
Podium is better than Finishing

Basically; just getting out there and starting is a massive victory - everything else is icing on the proverbial cake.
