Where do you call home?

Y'know... you can set up your profile to show your city. It's helpful.

Figured out how to add city.
There are two "location" boxes on the same profile page. I guess one shows in forum, the other not.

Born and raised in the OC (los Alamitos) after High School and the Corp lived in Tusin for a little while and now 21 years in RSM and love it. nothing better than opening up my Garage door and on to single track in 2-3 min

Born in LA but raised in OC all my life. Relocated to Palm Desert to look after my aging mom.

Looking forward to exploring new terrain in PS, Idyllwild, Hemet and the like ... Ride on!!

The Hub bike store has a group ride Saturday mornings in idyllwild. Great riding if you've never ridden there. The palm canyon epic is a great shuttle ride some of us will do this month and/or next month!

Thanks scan!! Yeah, I'm aware of their Sat morning group rides, I just haven't had the chance to make it up there on a Sat - I most definitely will...soon!!

Mo (me and my bike) just told me to stand on a street corner and yell for "Kenny G" ... And he'll come a runnin to show me around. ;)

Lived in Santa Rosa, Gualala, Anchor Bay, Pengrove, Petaluma, Boyes Hot Springs, and since 1993 Laguna Beach. Laguna Beach has the trails, community, safe place to live. Would move to my property in Prescott if Laguna was not a very nice place to live.

Ladera Ranch is home. Love being able to be on dirt in a quarter mile.

Moved from Texas to Irvine 20 years ago.

I used to live in HB and I miss it!!!! Now I live in Redondo beach and have to drive even further for decent trails!!

Our home is in the foothills of la Crescenta same house for 44 yrs.The Angeles National Forest is our backyard & our 2nd home. .its close to one of our favorite trails " The Strawberry" :) which we & others helped to restore after the station fire. Thank you :)
P.S. btw we are married for 45yrs March 8th 2015. And still having fun. Will be having a redo wedding at inspiration point ANF in march. Your all invited. Thank you again, Robin

La Crescenta, where in the h... is that? Please I don't want to know, no one else needs to know either. Disregard what Robin said that place must be really horrible, I'm sure there are no good trails near by and ANF is nearly impossible to get to.
Robin, please no more about this place you call home.

I see your Mt Hilyer and raise you this one. :D

I also call CV my home, 51 years to be exact, but BB is where I spend a lot of my time.

Temecula Valley here. Winchester to be exact. I've lived a handful of places in my life and this place is definitely home.

There's more to ride out here than just Vail Lake. You just have to work a little harder to find it than you do in the OC. Not many "parks" proper or trail maps, but there are trails.

Born and raised in Minnesota. Joined the Navy ended in So Orange Co. been there since. San Juan Capistrano to be exact.

Minnesota ----> So Cal that's quite a change.

I guess I would have to say awesome town haha aka Santa Clarita. But right now I'm living in Humboldt... and things are much better :D

For the people who live in the RSM, MV, Lake Forest...

What are some of the best trials to ride around here? I like flowy trails that have a steep enough grade to give you more than enough momentum. (I basically love trails in Aliso and Laguna)

I guess I need to get out and explore more than whiting and the luge. However, I get scared of big kitties and wilderness when I am alone haha

Don't listen to Hrz...I don't think he's ridden the floop.

RSM doesn't have the best trails, but you can make a loop out of Tijeras creek and trabuco canyon.
Also try Bell view trail to Caspers. It's ok for a change but not great.

You can ride past the Luge and go to Old camp. I did it today. Cooks up STT to Old Camp and back down down Luge. 15.9 miles and 2800 ft elevation.
Was pretty fun and a nice change.

Ran into 4 guys today that rode up Holy Jim to the top of the mtn, then down STT. That's pretty long. probably over 4000 ft and 20+ miles.

Also trails off Ortega Hwy, but I haven't ridden those.

I live in MV and split time between Aliso/Laguna Coast/El Moro and Whiting/Luge and thereabouts. I always try to hook Oakley trails into a Whiting/Luge loop, lotsa fun on the front side and backside if you start from El Toro. Also, Vista trail singletrack in O'Neil is easy to loop with Luge. Lower Joplin is another option if you take STT past the Luge, it drops you in near The Path shop on Live Oak, then take O'Neil back up and out. Note: questionable legality on the exit of Lower Joplin to Rose Canyon,(I guess we can talk about it here?), but I've never had a problem, just go slow down the canyon road and be very nice to the equestrians).

Getting out a little farther into kitty land is Holy Jim, Trabuco, Joplin, etc. I don't usually go out there alone myself either, tho mostly for fear of falling off a cliff and slow death rather than kittys. San Juan/Chiquito also in that category.

Agree with Danimal, the Tijeras, O'Neil Arroyo, etc trails aren't thrilling, but something different. I hit them every once in awhile. Lots of creek crossings.

Spent 40 years in Mikieville (aka Frazier Park) but was never smart enough to pedal for fun. Instead I seemed to think it was a good idea to collect expensive Jeeps, Rhinos and dirt bikes that would only be used a few times a year. Moved to Castaic 2 years ago to be closer to work and thought I would was going to die of boredom until I discovered mountain biking. Now I put more miles on my bikes than I do my cars

Yay KTMTOM!
Praise the good Lawd above! We have another committed soul to the human powered machine, the Mountain Bike!
Ayyyyymen! Can I get a halleuia!!! 8-) :D

Hallefrikkenlujah and hale to the Almighty mountain bike Mr Mikie. Took my wife saying she didn't want me dying on that damn 5 freeeway after the 12+ hour days to convince me there was more to life than work. Still miss the mountain though...

is there still turkey day rides to the top? Have not done that in years....great way to get ready for bird and beer day.

I live in RSM, and I ride just about everything from home... I am almost always alone. I usually use O'Neill as a warm-up if I'm going to Whiting, STT, Harding, etc. O'Neill, by itself is pretty boring, but the Arroyo-Tijeras loop is a good workout with many options to bail out or extend the distance. Sometimes, I take Arroyo to the end behind Ladera Ranch, or pair it with Waterworks. If I'm short on time, I can bail out at Tijeras Creek golf course, cross Antonio, and catch the Tijeras trail back to RSM.

Holy Jim, West Horsethief, and Trabuco are easily reachable from RSM... I prefer to ride in, so that I can do the road as a downhill on the way out... I prefer to go up Holy Jim and down Trabuco. That's a great loop.

As far as the Bell trail goes, you can just stay on the ridge for a 17ish mile out and back from the Dove Canyon waterfall. It's fire road, but the scenery along Starr Ranch is amazing. I usually drop into Caspers and and do the east ridge. The Rwanda ride uses this loop... I sometimes do it backwards. If I'm feeling really masochistic, I'll do the Oso Trail. Those loops tend to be in the 30-40 mile range.

Are they the most technical trails? Nope... But there is enough variety to keep me occupied, and to keep me from weighing 300 pounds... again.
