I moved to the South Bay about 4 years ago but lived in OC since I was born but seems all the good trails and people are in OC!!!!

Any LA or South Bay locals?

Home of the Los Padres National Forest, McGill Trail, Golden Eagle Trail, and 1,000's of miles of Fire Access Roads.
Uh, there are good MTB people outside of OC as well. :D

Raised in LA county, but the last 15 yrs in OC, Mission Viejo. Both have their good/bad points, but prefer OC.

I like OC Bolt-Ons even if they are Anodized with spray on tan. :o

I prefer OC as well.... roads are WAY better and the trails etc.... Unfortunately I work in LA now and rather not have to commute

Closest trails to me are in Palos Verdes and even then I dont know them well due to lack of trail maps for the area...

Born in LA but raised in OC all my life. Relocated to Palm Desert to look after my aging mom.

Looking forward to exploring new terrain in PS, Idyllwild, Hemet and the like ... Ride on!!

Landed in Venice Beach straight from Manila. Still here :)

My local trails are in the Santa Monicas.

Are there any real beginner trails up there?? I have yet to venture up there.

Thanks!

Grew up in OC, but currently live in Bakersfield and have been for the past 3 years. I just visited OC with my bike this weekend and rode Oaks.. I'd have to say Oaks is a million times better than the foothills here in Bakersfield.. I can't wait to move back!

Have you rode Kernville or Frazier Park. You are missing out on Kernville if you have not been...

My name is Dan and I live in Bakersfield. I like to Ride almost anywhere. As mentioned above the foothills kinda of suck but it is better than nothing.

Hey when do you go riding out in the hills. I am the guy with the KHS 650b hardtail.

Rancho Santa Margarita here... My local trails are O'Neill, Whiting, Santiago Truck Trail, Harding, Holy Jim, Horsethief, Trabuco, Caspers, etc... I'd ride more areas, but I'm too lazy to load the bike in the truck! 99% of my rides start from the garage...

I hate you... LOL if I COULD, that's the area I'd live in for riding.

I've ridden JO, kern river trail, and mill creek. They were a lot of fun, but aren't very close in proximity to bakersfield. I don't consider 1+ hour drives very "local." In OC we had oaks, aliso, sjt, turnbull etc. all less than an hour drive.

Near work or near trails I like?
No brainer in my book. When I chose to buy a condo, I chose a 30 minute commute to work so I could live within a mile of Whiting/STT.

An Excellent decision I do not regret! From the front door, ride a block and I'm in Edison/Aliso ( locally known as The Burms! ), which puts me in the back door to Whiting.

Simi Valley. Home of Suicide. At least you can ride to it from here. Also Rocky Peak, Chumash and Hummingbird on the east side.

Our home is in the foothills of la Crescenta same house for 44 yrs.The Angeles National Forest is our backyard & our 2nd home. .its close to one of our favorite trails " The Strawberry" :) which we & others helped to restore after the station fire. Thank you :)
P.S. btw we are married for 45yrs March 8th 2015. And still having fun. Will be having a redo wedding at inspiration point ANF in march. Your all invited. Thank you again, Robin

Born and raised in the OC.....actually in 42 years have not lived outside a 10 mile circle.

Impressive!
I have lived in 7 different states and Canada but I call SoCal my hometown. Been here, and mtbing, since '87. :D

Grew up in Costa Mesa/HB up to the 5th grade..moved to San Diego..back to south OC for a few years (first job out of HS) and now working FT in LA..but in Cerritos now for the last 5 years.

Born in East LA (really...) but grew up in OC...now live in Corona just on the fringe of the IE. My local trails within a 5 minute pedal are Chino Hills at the Green River golf course entrance and Coal Canyon off the Santa Ana River Trail. I also enjoy road riding on the river trail from time to time. I do like where I'm at...kind of the crossroads of everything...close enough to drive to IE, Big Bear, OC and LA trails....just gotta time the drive right because of the bottleneck on that @#$!% 91!
