If you zoom in on the image its easy to see that the chain jumped off the chain ring which is why she is grimacing amd why the chain looks slack. In back the chain is on the 10 tooth cog. No considerable mud on her shoes but lots of it on the tire treads.The bike is legit, although the chain might be too long, and that rear tire is mangy. The chain is fine.....she is cross chained over.....small/small cog.

Yeah, I think you're right about the cross-chainging. Someone didn't measure their chain length correctly.
