Unfortunately I don't know what they are up to. I don't know what trail works are in the plans, but SJ is usually not one of them.
Yeah SJ hasn't been done in a long time, agree not a WS regular, maybe at some point coming spring we can organize a Grass Roots..
Sure...yea...but can he/she put down a 50-piece McNugget in one sitting?*Sigh*
Just opened Strava and saw a friend ran a race on San Juan, Los Pinos, Main Divide, etc.
31 miles, 7300' climbing, 5.5 hours...on foot!

No 30 lb. (13.6 kg.?) weight penalty on the climbs is a plus, and the steeper it gets, the more of an advantage to the runner.I'm not at all surprised that a good ultra-marathoner can run that route faster than a mtber can bike it.
Big penalty downhill though. Downhill running is rough on the body, really eats up a lot of energy. No 30 lb. (13.6 kg.?) weight penalty on the climbs is a plus, and the steeper it gets, the more of an advantage to the runner.
Easy to sprain an ankle, too. No OTB's, tho!Big penalty downhill though. Downhill running is rough on the body, really eats up a lot of energy.

@bvader, I'd recommend checking with the guys who built that bridge on the lollipop loop. (I think it was the San Diego Mountain Bike Association.) They might be up for it. And if they can do it w/o gas-powered equipment, they can do it anytime. Hopefully sooner rather than later.
