What is the best way to buy a new bike these days?

You don't have it built up yet??? WTF???? :p

Congrats on the acquisition. Looking forward to seeing the finished product and ride reports astride same.

I was out taking care of family business today and came home at 1:30 and the damn thing was on my porch! In plain sight! No worries I have it now and I’ll kill you if you try and take it! Put the thing in the house and without opening the box left for a 3pm job, never opened the box, man that was hard! May not have made it to work if I had. I am being honest, I have never seen one of these beast’s and am completly blown away! Building tomorrow.

I may be updating to maybe the web is not the best way to buy a bike, I’m having serious reservations about riding this thing tomorrow, there is really no room for the boys in the stand over. Either they sent me a medium or I’m getting shorter by the min. Nowhere on the frame does it say that I can fing the size of the frame. According to the size chart it should fit me.

Standover rarely comes into play....think about it. When do you ever actually straddle the top tube with both feet on the ground? When was the last time that was an issue?

Ahhh man, that's a terrible feeling... hope it's not a problem. If you think it's the wrong frame, measure the head tube, that's usually the most objective thing to measure and compare to the size charts.

Maybe not for you but for me I will unclip and plant my feet to keep from dying or whatever. When and if the foot needs planting those inches come in very very handy as terrain is never even, at times when nessecary riding tech at an almost stoped speed, or tight switch backs.

What does the size say on the box?

I get that...I understand. But my point is even in those instances you never put both feet on the ground at the same time. You're planting one or the other to keep from imitating a flying squirrel. Not both.

I usually fall down at that point.:bang:

The quickest way to identify the size on a modern frame is to measure the head tube. Not to throw salt in the wound... but with the geo landscape changing ie, longer reach, steeper seat tube angles etc... I won't buy bikes without riding a demo, and also at a very minimum, sitting on both of the potential size frames I could be right for. It's just not as simple as it used to be to look at a size chart and pull the trigger.

Good luck, and remember that there are plenty of ways to adjust the ergonomics. What size/brand are you coming from if you don't mind my asking. If it's a mid travel 27.5, the change to long travel 27.5 or 29r, will make the front end feel high, and by extension, make the top tube feel out of place. You adjust to that fairly quickly, at least i do.

H.B. Congrats on the new toy. Went to yeti to check out your new ride and noticed the size small standover at 29.8 and the XL coming in at 29.9 which IMO is the same. Looks like a Yeti thing, No flying W's allowed. :(

@hill^billy - If the numbers above are correct... A quick Google search shows the standover height has increased 2 inches from your old model for the same sized frame. You haven't changed... Yeti has.

Wow.....30” standover on a S frame? How does that even happen?

Per their fit chart, 5’3-5’7 for S......how in the hell is someone 5’3 gonna fit on that.

On the other hand, the Bronson has a stand over of 27.7 for size small.
