I might check out those elbow pads. I have issues with a really sensitive ulnar nerve in my left elbow. I think it's out of place or something, gotta see the doc. But I really should protect it. Sometimes just putting my elbow on the table feels like I slam my funny bone. Would potentially do serious damage in a spill onto some san Gabes rock.I have a couple of lightweight Fox long sleeve jerseys. One is somewhat vented. I've been wearing them a lot lately due to the overgrowth and poison oak on the trails. I also have some G-Form Pro-X elbow guards. They are the thinnest ones that G-Form makes. Feels pretty much just like wearing arm warmers, but have a little protection built in. The nice part about the pads is that I can wear a normal short sleeve jersey and I can take them off if it gets too hot or they are not needed anymore. BTW, same answer for the pants. I use G-Form knee pads if I need to keep the legs protected.

Yup. Fire sharpened junipers do a number.Think the San Gabes are bad... Come up to the northeastern part of Canada. The Antelope Valley, we will show you getting tore up. You just learn to deal and bitch about it a lot.

Can you make sauerbraten with hamburger?Well... You can't make a true German sauerbraten without Juniper...
That's been my experience. I normally wear sun sleeves which help a bit, but if I know a ride will have lots of buckthorn or other sharp/persistent brush I'll bring full arm pads and put them on for the descent.Buckthorn don't care
Thanks for the tip Mr. Baggins.Chain mail FTW!
I strongly advise you to have an Ortho doc X-ray/scan your cervix!I might check out those elbow pads. I have issues with a really sensitive ulnar nerve in my left elbow. For the record, I started off with shorts in addition to the attire you observe...then @Mikie suggested I remove the shorts...is all I’m saying.NOPE! I know as I took the pic.
This is "normal" riding attire for the @DangerDirtyD !

Hemp button ups do a pretty good job against the sun and light brush. I have a couple of the REI ones:

I have used second-hand dress shirts from the Salvation Army as brush protection. Long sleeves, button down collar and cuffs, usually made of a thick cotton weave. They did not breathe very well but better than nothing.
I don't think Kevlar could stop a yucca needle.
Reduce, Recycle, Reusesecond-hand dress shirts from the Salvation Army
I think I've seen that model in some James Bond movies right??I really like REI's hemp shirts. They are light and breath, but pretty tough. Won't stop yucca or cholla, but do pretty good on manzanita similar shrubs.
In fact I just bought the one I linked to that's on sale, so have three now!
