Three Day Theory

I heard a theory stating that it takes 10000 hours of practice to become an expert at any sport or activity....

I heard its 10,000 repeated attempts, not hours. Swing a hammer 10,000 times and you are a pro

The 10,000 hour myth propagated by either Malcolm Gladwell or those who misinterpreted Malcolm Gladwell has led to Uberparents counting out the number of hours of practice their poor innocent victims have to be at the ballet barre, the piano bench, soccer practice or coding. I talked to yet another girl today who quit soccer at 15 because she was so sick of it. She took up water polo last year and loves it. Oh her poor parents - all that time and money and no scholarship or Olympic berth. - not even a high school varsity soccer match.

Oh - and let's not forget "red shirting." Gladwell points out that those born after May are at a disadvantage with their peers. Many parents are holding their kids back in 8th grade so they are bigger, faster, stronger in high school. In CA, you have to do that by attending Private School for a year, because public middle schools will not retain a student - even for failing grades.

Some are red-shirting Kindergarten. Go Uberparents! :bang:
