These are dangerous times for cyclists

No, not that kind of danger...the danger of not being able to find parts needed when they are needed immediately!!!

Has anyone else noticed the lack of availability of parts since the mighty pandemic set in? The tires I am looking for are not available, not even directly through the manufacturer. The pedals I am looking for (multiple brands/models) are nearly impossible to get. I went to four shops this morning, casually looking for pedals. Two of the shops did not have in stock what their website said was "in store". Get with it people!!! Another shop turned out to be a roadie focused shop (I'd never been there before), and the last shop has funky closed days due to the pandemic. Even online, more things are out of stock than usual.

I had it a few weeks ago looking for tubes. Nothing available for weeks online in my size so I started visiting local shops.

First shop I walked into. "Sorry we are out of stock and have been for some time. If you do find any can you let us know where so we can go and get some?"

I haven't been unable to find anything as of yet. Then again, I regularly buy parts I don't need "yet" for future use. I have 5-6 tires in my garage and have a box of new parts I take on every road trip just in case something breaks. Don't need to be paying full retail....

I do this also to the extent that my pocket book can handle but I have recently cycled through my parts bin and now I cannot find replacements to refill the spare parts drawer in some cases.

I bought a Maxxis DHF 29 2.5 WT Exo 3c yesterday for $65. In person!

But yeah, stuff is getting harder and harder to find. My Stage 21 guy did some clever buying when he could. He has more 2021 Sid Ultimates in stock than SRAM does. He sold 150 Race Face 32t chainrings in the past two months. Interesting times continue.

I’m surprised by the randomness of what’s out of stock.
I ordered an adapter Sunday...doesn't matter what kind...and Amazon tells me it suffered some horrendous demise on Tuesday and is - UNDELIVERABLE!!!( emphasis theirs)

I can only grieve for the poor item's fate.
it does matter which kind of adapter you ordered. Some adapters are more difficult to procure than others.

This is what came to my mind when you said “adapter...”
I would expect even Amazon to struggle to deliver a Saturn V Lunar Module Adapter by 10AM tomorrow.
