Strava Global Heatlamp and Illegal Trails

You can ride illegal trails with Strava and just mark the ride as private. Well, mark it as private and uncheck the "Include my anonymized public activity data in Strava Metro and the Heatmap" in the privacy settings. I often mark my rides as private for a variety of reasons.

I love ya, Mikie, but:
Not sure if that sounds more like a quote from "1984" or a GDR/Stasi informational brochure. Can't wait until one of the most liberating of all modern devices, the automobile, becomes "self-driving" and we can only go where we're allowed and when we're allowed to go there. Google, Facebook, Strava, yada yada, yada. Maybe someday an EMP attack will be the only chance for future humans to be unmonitored and self-determinate. Viva la progression!

Share away, brothers and sisters. It's only data. :)
The EMP will force everyone to ride bicycles! I'll be ready!!!

I unchecked that heatmap setting just the other day and have multiple addresses entered into the safety zone around my house as well. If you drive by my house I'll most likely be peeking through the blinds, might even get caught in a booby trap if you get too close.

I was at top of the world yesterday to visit a friend that actually lives on top of the world drive. It had been years since I've been up that way. On the way home, I decided to do a drive by of the park/end of the road/trail head/whatever you want to call it... I yelled "HOLY CRAP ARE YOU F'N KIDDING ME?" scaring my wife as she thought we were under fire from Islamic Terrorists or something. Perhaps I over reacted, but I'm not willing to outright admit that. I was tripped out on how many people were there on bikes. Dudes in full dh gear like it was no big deal. I can remember spending all day on weekends and being stoked if we found ONE or TWO other dudes that would ride with us. With that much activity, I'm surprised that nothing has been done. How long has it been like that up there?

Years

...With that much activity, I'm surprised that nothing has been done.

Done by whom for what? If Telonics were actually illegal, like we all have been led to believe that it is, it would have been shut down years ago. If it were illegal, riders at the top and at the bottom would receive tickets by whichever agency is tasked with enforcement. Clearly, the trail is not only functionally legal, but it's a commercial draw. It may be the most frequently filmed trail for mtb apparel and equipment manufacturers, and it's often used as winter training grounds for world cup pros.

Speaking of which, I haven't ridden Telonics in a couple of years. Anyone up for some shuttle runs?

I am not sure what Strava is, but I read a lot of bragging about being top of the list for this or that and personal besties. I don't poach, I do ride a lot of deer trails and such so these are not official "trails". There is one rad trail called the G spot and it was a poach. You would see company vans in the parking lot at Correganville and pickups full of shredders getting a lift 1/3 up the mountain. Eventually Rancho Simi Parks decided it is a real trail and would just place brush over places they did not want shredders to drop. I mean how to you block off a trail that falls vertical 12 feet? As I said these dudes are rad as they basically drop the fall line down the big rocky mountain. And they are gonna drop poaching or not.

"fall line shredding poachers"?! Whoa, that's a mouthful.
