Right now my calendar is clear. Maybe I need to add this ride so it stays open.
I'm afraid of the traffic on that day.
My thoughts exactly. Just came back, and the morning is no biggie at all. Empty streets/parking lot/trails. By noon it's pretty busy though. Coming down there were a lot of cars, but we all moved along quite nicely (after a Jeep pulled over and let traffic pass... thanks Jeepster!).Early in the morning it shouldn't be that bad on the way up and by the time we'd be heading home it shouldn't be much different than any other Saturday. I'm a bit biased though since I'd rather sit in traffic than be at the "shower" we are invited to that same day.
Righteous compromise!30mi 3,000' all day excursion
Since this is an annual shindig I may come out to put names with faces in the parking lot. But while you animals take off I'll just cheat the system and spend a day getting lifted in the bike park.
Be climbing the mountain at 4am and it will be wide open.I'm afraid of the traffic on that day.
Get a single lift from the chair and start the ride from the top. Best of both worlds. Honestly, if it makes the rest of the ride more enjoyable, it's worth it.But there's a chairlift....
The pace leaders are strong but they to regather the group and to rest up a few times along the way.this looks like a great ride... i might be in... been looking to explore more big bear. hows the pace?

Which means us laggards never actually get a break.
You're hardly a laggard.Which means us laggards never actually get a break.
You're hardly a laggard.
@Runs with Scissors, Im starting a new group, care to join?Yeah - that's why 90% of
the crew at the SART ride were waiting every time I showed up...I'm not fast. But I will get to the end eventually.

If we start from the other end out by plantation or so the initial climb is much easier and the climb out for the next 10 miles is much more doable for the majority. After a snack break it is almost all down hill the way back.I can put together a meeting place where we can all meet, close to the west end trail head where all will enjoy. What do you think?
Hi David,
Going to make a Huge suggestion. I understand last year there were quite a few people that found this start and route quite taxing and had to bail out. A major bummer after driving 2+ hours and not being able to hang with the crew.
