Second Annual IMTB Big Bear SKYLINE! Takeover

Early in the morning it shouldn't be that bad on the way up and by the time we'd be heading home it shouldn't be much different than any other Saturday. I'm a bit biased though since I'd rather sit in traffic than be at the "shower" we are invited to that same day.
My thoughts exactly. Just came back, and the morning is no biggie at all. Empty streets/parking lot/trails. By noon it's pretty busy though. Coming down there were a lot of cars, but we all moved along quite nicely (after a Jeep pulled over and let traffic pass... thanks Jeepster!).

Yeah - that's why 90% of
the crew at the SART ride were waiting every time I showed up...I'm not fast. But I will get to the end eventually.
@Runs with Scissors, Im starting a new group, care to join?

Hi David,
Going to make a Huge suggestion. I understand last year there were quite a few people that found this start and route quite taxing and had to bail out. A major bummer after driving 2+ hours and not being able to hang with the crew. If we start from the other end out by plantation or so the initial climb is much easier and the climb out for the next 10 miles is much more doable for the majority. After a snack break it is almost all down hill the way back.I can put together a meeting place where we can all meet, close to the west end trail head where all will enjoy. What do you think?

TTB, the initial climb up Fern is a bit of work while at elevation, that's for sure! I have no horses in the race, I just wanted to get something posted.

NOW, FOR EVEN FURTHER CONSIDERATION... I'm concerned about the Labor Day weekend plan... a bunch of people have said it's fine, but many have said it won't happen... WHAT ARE THOUGHTS ON MOVING IT TO ANOTHER DATE????

Please reply with inputs on this!!!

Actually the issue was more the pace....for a social ride/gathering....the pace was fast, even by my standards....and I hung back and behaved myself. We left Snow Summit parking lot and the race was on. We hadn't even reach Bristcone Trail yet and we were already stretched out. The climb up Fern and them up Skyline to Radford Grade put the nail into the coffin for several trying to keep up.

Snow Summit works because it can handle the large number of vehicles that a group of this size will have.
