Riding with Kids - General Topics

Having a heck of a time finding a bike for my son. He is too big for his 16” belt drive bike and his sister is riding now so they are sharing it. Took him to REI today just to throw a leg over a 24” bike and he’s not there yet. So ordered another Early Rider (love his 16” belt drive) and hoping it gets here before he’s in college.

Planning to get him out to the over the hump races this year and this bike is ticking off all the boxes. Gears, super light, good components, and I already know the build quality of their bikes is far beyond a lot of others in this market.

Now I just need to get back into my riding groove. Tough year on that front.

He is picking up the shifting well, practicing on our lawn since we haven’t been able to make it out to the trails yet.

The derailleur dang near touches the ground when in the biggest cog, definitely need to teach him to shift before heading downhill.

Stopped at the Path to look for some new shorts for myself, left with a new helmet for my son and no shorts for me.

To be honest he needed a new helmet more than I need new shorts and they had one in his favorite color that fits him well. o_O

Luckily I had $100 leftover on a gift card because things are $$$ these days.

Lil side tip, always check to make sure that the helmet box matches the actual helmet inside. Had I not paid attention this thing could have cost me $80 more.

Never bought a tow rope but luckily a dad on our little league team rides with his kids and is letting me use one of his extra straps. Actually he was at True Grit with some of you this year and I think knows single speed Mark on here from AZ.

Hoping to test it out tomorrow.
