Triple "Like" on this. That was wisdom, right there. Utilize wisdom of others. We want you to succeed and really enjoy this like we do Brothah!Welcome. My piece of advice is don't give up. I had some horrible first rides, because I was a) in horrible shape and b) usually had no idea where I was going. I walked up a lot of hills. A lot. I'm still by no means a climb crusher. Just enjoy the ride, stop and smell the roses if you need a break and find enjoyment in small victories. The beauty of riding is it can be a solo and group sport. You can always progress and your limits are only your own, but you can always go out on rides and enjoy them just as much with people above and below your fitness and skill level. When you can, try to ride with people that are faster than you.
Oh and if you ever want to ride Oaks or Laguna, hit me up.

Chevy trucks, guns, whiskey and Mountain bikes!!
Definitely! Safety first.Might want to keep the whiskey separate from the guns. Just sayin'
I’m going with my brother in law, he as well is a beginner but we’ll definitely go light on the trails. Thanks for the advice broHi Manny, welcome aboard.
Marshall Canyon is a great spot for a first ride. Has a little taste of everything, without getting in too over your head. Lots of fun routes. The bonus being you can turn around at any time, or extend for more miles ala claremont and potato mountain if you have the urge to climb. Lots of fun to be had on the way down as well.
Are you going alone, or with a guide?
You're very close to turnbull canyon too, which has some good options, all beginner friendly.
