I took a spill and fractured my pelvis. been in the hospital since Monday. having surgery at Keck on Wednesday.
I was expecting to see the patented stationary Mikie pose on the bike. Hang in there @blixet ! Use this joint for some vicarious MTB.The title of this thread could be interpreted many different ways.
Really sorry to hear about the injury. From what I witnessed with George of the Jungle that is an insanely painful injury. Hopefully you heal quickly and completely so you can get back to the fun stuff soon.
That sucks in every way that something can suck. Very sorry to hear.I took a spill and fractured my pelvis. been in the hospital since Monday. having surgery at Keck on Wednesday.
Thanks everyone for your well wishes. Hope I can give more details at a later date. Suffice to say it was sidewalk stupidity. I am at County general inmobile and in traction.
last I saw the bike the highway patrolman was on it riding away. my neighbor who is a deputy sheriff snagged it from him and took it home for me. He says it’s on eBay now.

That all sounds dreadful. Sorry to hear. Glad you are home. More healing vibes headed your way.Had surgery on Wed the 12th. Took a while to get scheduled with a top hip specialist and getting approval from my insurance. That sucked since I was immobilized in County up til Tues (insurance didn't want to pay for being house at Keck rather than County). Was released to home yesterday. Lots of pain and limited movement. Things should slowly get better. No weight bearing on the right leg for 10 weeks. Cruising around the house with a walker and wheel chair. Patience is not my strong point. Need help with everything still and driving my wife crazy. Hope to accomplish a shower today after 2 weeks of grunge.

Quick update on yesterday's 3 week follow-up appt. Got the 40 or so Frankenstein staples removed. Hip is coming along well. Still some weakness and numbness in the upper leg quad muscle probably due to trauma to the femoral nerve from the extensive clamping during procedure. Should continue to resolve over time. Big new issue is that because of extensive, prolonged swelling in foot and leg, I was sent for an ultrasound of the leg veins and a couple of deep vein thromboses were discovered both above and below the knee. So, upshot is treatment with blood thinner Xarelto for up to 6 months to try to prevent the silver bullet train to pulmonary embolism and the deep sleep. Next follow-up in 4 weeks, at which time I may be allowed full weight bearing on the right leg (with walker) and the beginning of working my way back to whatever will be the new normal. whoopie!
Hang in there. Glad they found the DVTs before the DVTs found you. I've had several, and have been on blood thinners since 1997. Xarelto currently.Quick update on yesterday's 3 week follow-up appt. Amen to this. I'm a Xarelto lifer due to DVT's, and it's all good. No clots, no limitations, and no PITA side effects like Coumadin or Lovenox!Hang in there. Glad they found the DVTs before the DVTs found you. I've had several, and have been on blood thinners since 1997. Xarelto currently.
