Bicycle chain worn out? No problem, just recycle :geek:

What a heck are we looking at? Rabbit was a victim of the snake and the snake was a victim of the fire? The rabbit still has one eye open.
You nailed it Bernie! It looked like the rabbit literally jumped out of the snake in a final effort to escape. Haha! We're considering leaving it on the Construction General Foreman's hood tomorrow. He drives a late model Shelby Mustang.

C'mon @Mikie will 2017 be your year for a new sled?

While that is one sexy beast, it may not be the best choice for our resident godfather. He likes long distances and high speeds. Plus sized bikes are great for rooty, ledgy, chundery stuff, but they are slower fire-road and smooth-trail climbers, and slower in a straight line. I also think @Mikie might feel underforked on a Fox 34 now that he's been running a 36. I see Mikie joining the legions of 29ers with long travel ad slack angles (SB5.5c?) , or simply moving to a standard SB5c - the closest thing in the Yeti lineup to his current bike - but mo' bettah! Then there's the king daddy SB6c, with that extra beef for the serious stuff that we know he does well.

I really have struggled as to what my next bike would be. One thing is clear however, you guys know me better than I know me.
I can tell you this,
  • a 36 fork is definite,
  • still not convinced I'm a 1X transmission kinda guy,
  • 26" is definitely out,
  • nothing less than 5" of squish,
  • It will definitely be composite,
  • I prefer the loooong top tube,
  • It won't be a Specialized (surprise!)

How about a Jeffsy? https://www.yt-industries.com/en/detail/index/sArticle/612/sCategory/509

I still think you should get the Yeti SB5.5 29er or the SB6c.

This is a total thread derail, so I may start another one for the debate, but @Mikie says he is not sure he's a 1x11 (or 1x12) kind of guy. He is not alone in that thinking.

This interview gives two great point of views from two current enduro racers about 2x vs 1x. Even the 1x advocate admits it's mostly for racing, and for adventure rides or high altitude, he would use a 2x.

Di2 electronic shifting has taken much of the argument away from those who are steadfastly against a front mech. The 1x12 and huge rear gear bigger than 42t take away much of the advantage of a 1x. A 42+ rear gear requires a longer chain and a longer derailleur cage, which then introduces a very, very slack chain when riding downhill in the smallest gears. I will continue this "chain" of thought on a new thread. http://www.imtbtrails.com/forum/threads/lets-revisit-1x-and-2x.5024/

I am looking forward to this thread...
