I saw a deer leg like that once on the Bell Trail on the way back from Caspers. Still bloody and wet. It wasn't there in the morning on my way out! I didn't stop to take any pictures, and I PRed every Strava segment out of there.

Wouldn't have worried to much, the lion was probably full and well fed by then.

But of course, if all they had are the legs and was looking for the meaty breast, you'd be a meal.

I think it's also got to do with them protecting their kill so if there were any buried bits in the area for snacking on later then the kitty might pounce on any threats to its liver and lung stew.
