I went to check OTH and it looks pretty fun, crowded but fun.

If you mean crowded on the race course try coming out when the Pros/elites are riding too. Yesterday was actually less crowded cuz all those riders weren't on the course. Getting stuck behind someone slower and having people stuck behind you is just how it goes. Most everyone is willing to get over as soon as it's safe provided one lets them know. All the races I've done I've only had one guy get snarky with me. I wasn't about to deviate into a sand-pit to let him pass though. I held my line and got over as soon as it was safe.

Apologies to the guy last night that I spit my Gatorade all over. Didn't see you until it was too late! :o
 
Race #9 is in the books! Another fun one out there last night, and by fun I mean: horrible torture. I spent the last half of my second lap catching up to the #4 lady, passed her on the last climb, and then she slammed the gears down and yelled for me to come on. I just didn't have the legs. I'm not sure (sarcasm), but I think it's because literally the only time I've touched my bike in the past two months is to race OTH or the Non Dot. Is there such a thing as a "weekend racer"? :lol:
I feel like I should "train", but then remind myself that this is "fun" so I sit back down on the coach and scoop another bowl of ice cream. That said, I'm happy with my 5th place finish.

Doesn't seem like any of you here are racing OTH. If you are, you certainly aren't posting about it!!!
 
I can't do OTH; my work day just doesn't end early enough to get out there. Especially not on a weekly cadence. :cry:
 
They are fun times......I'm just built for short course sprint races.

Plus I have been enjoying the less dense trails on Tuesday nights.

Please keep supporting the races....as long as they keep going my wife will have a job.

What is your wife doing at OTH? I'll have to say hi next week! OTH seems more popular than ever :)

She is the one in charge of the venue/volunteers/vendors, etc. There is Matt/John.....then my wife.
 
I've been out there, having some fun. But, mostly suffering... :eek: Last 2 finishes have been in the top 10, so I'm making some progress.

I didn't make it last night and might just wait until next year to race again. It is a lot of fun but since I hurt my back in June I just haven't shaken off my wussiness.

I met your wife two weeks ago, and she was sweet enough to remember me and say hi last week :)
Last night of pain.....errrr....I mean....fun tonight!
 
A little late, but all well: Great season! This is the first time I've had enough races to qualify for the series points, and was pleasantly surprised. It's all about showing up every week. The loot was substantial, and I met some awesome people I hope to forge great friendships with. Not sure if I'll be out there next year (something about the top three series finishers getting kicked up a class.......I'm not really "Elite/Pro" material) but I had a great time. My only gripe is I still wish they would add a klunker category :p
