New Bike Day!

Good question:
It's kinda the 29er cousin, imo. Since selling the 5010, I had been demoing the Hightower and Tallboy, figuring I would get one or the other- until the 5010 low link dropped.
COVID things happened in the meantime... So it worked out that I was back on a 5010 and still demoing the 29ers. And still riding my Trek Stache 29+

After enough time with all 3 bikes in circulation, I just felt the most pleased on the Tallboy.
The bike makers have really learned how to hide the big wheels. I can pretty closely ride the Tallboy to the way I rode the 5010- but with more speed and stability.

It is utterly insane how fast this bike picks up speed. And I have come to realize, overall speed is my wheel house. The Hightower was a couple of seconds faster on trails like Telonix and 5-Oaks and admittedly, probably would have grown in time gap. But too me, over a 2hr ride, trading all that total speed, for 7 mintues of downhill is not good business.

Hey Shawn!
Yes recently I got the Ripmo and I've noticed overall speed verses downhill speed. Trails like T nA verses say Old Emerald... the Ripmo is faster on the gnarlier vs Pivot 429 trail which is faster climber and faster even on some less gnarlier trails.... however the fun factor on the downhill with the more cush must be considered.... now when I hit gnar, my teeth don't fly off!
last week I went upto the main divide to do motorway via maple and the ripmo was fine climbing but by the time I got to motorway, I was so beat from heat and elevation, that 0n motorway .. I took it way easy... and slow.. to see that it was PR... its nice to keep your teeth!

Well, not new bike, but new frame day. I know it’s a gravel frame, but it’s from a mountain bike company so it should qualify to be here. I sold the Niner RLT frame to pick this up. Titanium gravel frame with a little bit of MTB geometry tossed in. I’ll post a better picture when I finish the build.

You're pushing the thread criteria here, Paul. Good thing for the titanium clause... :geek: SWEET!!!!!!! :thumbsup:

LOL, yep, I tend to turn bikes every 18-24 months. The DV9 was the exception to that since I just couldn't get it to be a SS without a tensioner. I think the Ripmo is coming up on it's second birthday next month, but I don't see that bike going anywhere anytime soon.........

@pperrelle is like the Winchester widow up in San Jose where she just kept spending money on the Winchester house to keep evil spirits away. Paul has nearly unlimited funds so keeps cycling thru bikes and home improvements on a house that 98% of America would kill for in stock form. :D

@jaime, you are the absolute best dad, thinking of your daughter and setting her up with a bike she can grow into! :inlove::D

Live uncaged, indeed. I didn't see this one coming, but I'm stoked for ya. Where ya holding up at, still down south? I'll be in SoCal for a spell, let's ride. :)

Thank you all of guys for liking my post @Voodoo Tom @UPSed @SnakeCharmer
@mike I'll love to mike but not quite that fit yet to ride with you man !

@mtnbikej never :thumbsup: !

@Sasquatch9billion they charge $69 if you want it assembled, but I only put the handlebars and screw the RD and put in the wheels.. and those $69 I spent them on some "smashburguers" close to the YT mill omg those burgers are the shizzle !! I envy you guys in OC for having those burguers close to you :mad: !
