Mtn biker or cyclist?

"I am" proclamations are kind of funny, and sort of a running joke in our house. Like, after a particularly good day of (insert activity of choice here), one or both of will announce "I am a (...)er". The first day that I took my newly purchased entry/mid level hard tail out to Las Virgenes Open Space and rode maybe 7-8 miles, knowing almost immediately that this was going to be a thing for me, I returned home and announced "I am a mountain biker". My wife just rolled her eyes, and braced for the financial implications of that statement.

I'm absolutely a mountain biker but I do own a gravel bike said up with a flat bar that I ride on the road, usually one a week but only because it's convenient to ride down my driveway and be on the bike path a mile away. Once I move to Prescott full time, that gravel bike will be history.

We could be neighbors in the not to distant future?

We just signed our contract for a custom home build in Williamson Valley. Should break ground in May and be done by New Years. Lots of great riding options out there with different groups meeting thru-out the week to ride. It's darn near nirvana but could use some more "sketch". There's a gravity trails group out there that's trying to get that moving in the right direction. Until then, there's Sedona nearby. :D

Sounds good to me! There has to be some secret stuff you don’t know about yet? Have bike will travel applies to Sedona and other surrounding areas like So Mountain and Lemon Drop, Prescott. And congrats on the contract, I’ll bet you can’t wait!

I personally don't know about 95% of it. I only ride there when I go visit so I do I've done the TNGR (Thursday Night Guys Ride) which is mostly guys in the 30's who RIP the entire ride. One of them is Chloe Woodruff's training partner. The other ride I do is 8-80 on Sundays where 20-30 people show up, you split into different skilled groups and ride off for 90 minutes. Everybody then meets back at the TH for beverages and sometimes a BBQ, sometimes a wine & cheese spread, etc...Good people, mostly 40's and up on that day it seems and nobodies setting any records. I haven't ridden with them but if your schedule allows, there a group of retired, older types that ride I think of Wednesdays and Fridays, of course doing different rides every week.

I got the bug on a Huffy. Wooden ramps with bricks in the driveway.
Graduated to a BMX that I would ride in the "desert" everyday. Until that Vegas desert started getting graded and marked for housing developments. But that didnt matter cus we would just huck the terraced lots. Until the homes came and we would just pedal out further to the next patch of dirt.
Got my 1st road bike immediately after college. Being a Day Trader cycling or tennis were the cool sports around the office. I started riding 150mi a week around Atlanta after work. Got bit by the Triathlon bug and did a few of those.
After moving to LA the traffic here killed my love for road cycling. Flat rides by the ocean are boring and climbing canyons are a death wish.
So I got a mtb and here we are. Dirt Bag for life. I still use my road bike to go to the bar, but thats about it.
Im a fluid cyclist. Who knows what the future holds.
